What happens – about to earn upgrade voucher but expecting some refunds soon?

Hi,

I am about £50 away from earning the upgrade voucher, probably cross that bridge tomorrow when my utility bill comes(!) I am however shortly due refund from excess flooring order and compensation for very poor customer service on a previous purchase. These will bring me several hundred pounds below the threshold again.

I intend to spend the full 10k before downgrading, but wanted to check does anyone have experience of earning the voucher than falling below the earning threshold? Given all the complaints here on IT and consumer service, I wanted to be prepared for problems.

I would have prepaid that £50 ages ago, and banked that voucher asap… then worry about the refunds after. Once it’s in your BAEC, it’s safely stored. Not your fault you are getting legit refunds… but yes, they will be added back to your 10k target spend..guess no chance you can delay the refunds or ask for a cheque! It’s just like my recent gold card BA refunds which delayed my 15k spend a bit.

The T&Cs state that: 8.2 Once you reach the qualifying spend amount, any refunds that are applied to your card account after this won’t affect your eligibility for the qualifying spend reward.

Thanks Polly, we have a lot of vouchers in the household so I didn’t want to hurry it up. Spacing out vouchers expiry day increase the chance of them getting used. I just let one expired recently. Also, I wasn’t expecting so much screw ups with my floor order to receive a compensation!

Good to know that the Barclays voucher will work like the amex one at least in this scenario!
