Forums Frequent flyer programs British Airways Club What happens if companion doesn’t show up but I do on an Avios booking?

Just wondering what happens if the companion on a companion voucher booking fails to show up on the day, but I do? Would I still be allowed to board and make the return flight?

I think it’s ok on the return but liable to cause issues on the outbound. Is it not possible just to cancel and get some money back, or are you dependant on those particular award seats? Though I’m sure people on here have said you can call and get one passenger removed form a 241 booking.

The ideal situation would be to reduce the booking to one person closer to the time depending on if my wife is able to come or not. But a) is that possible and b) would the companion voucher be refunded in that case?

If you’re the voucher holder and still flying then nothing.

If you know in advance of the outbound you’ll be flying solo then it would be possible to call BA and ask to cancel the companions ticket and you’d get a refund of most of the cash element.

I believe the “hard stop” on making changes to Avios is 24h. Don’t leave it till the same day.

Nothing as long as the person whose names is on the voucher is there

I’m not even sure that matters. Once its ticketed, its ticketed. As long as the outbound is flown I would expect the return to be fine even if that person is technically the companion.

Does the outbound have to be flown with the companion?
