Frequently, a newbie pops up on this forum and asks “what should I do with XXXk avios points?”. In short order, they’re directed to the correct HfP article.
But for a bit of fun, I want to ask a different question…
If someone gifted you 300k avios today, what would YOU do with them?
Book a flight for Dec 25, returning Jan 26.
Redeem on JetBlue via Qatar for a flight to New York in Mint.
Create a RTW itinerary using the largely secret multi-carrier reward chart.
Not as much as the person asking a few days ago could do with 500k Avios!

Nothing, because I have already assigned my 2025 annual leave entirely. Largely on upgrade voucher reward flights on BA and Virgin. I’d have to sit on the 300K till booking for 2026 becomes available, and probably see them devalued horribly in that time
I wish it were as easy as the OP asks. It’s not a shortage of Avios that gets in the way, it’s life!
But to answer the question: I’d bank them and use them some time in 2026, probably seeing if I could use them for Indonesia or South America. Which is easier said than done with Avios.

Funny you ask this question, been pondering what to do with a similar number of Avios I thought I had a sound plan for. I’ve moved a small stash to QR already but kept 400k avios in the HHA with 2x 2for1’s that I’m planning on redeeming for a trip to the US for summer 2026 for my family of 5. The earliest I can book however is Nov 25 as that’s when the BC upgrade voucher will be ready. Totally confused what to do with the whispers around devaluations. Leave them with BA, or move them to QR too? But that means my 2x2for1s could possibly go to waste! What would everyone else do?
Just to add, there’s 0 possibility of fitting in a trip to the US this year sadly.

I’ve been thinking the same. I’ve got a fair amount in a HHA, few in AY and a decent amount in QR (for no real reason). If there /is/ a deval, surely it would either (1) spread like a cancer through the Avios-sphere or (2) oppos would remain, as would the ability to move between the various Avios schemes, so I wouldn’t be (and am not) too worried *yet*.

I value these threads as they invite others to offer random inspiration about clever things to do with a large stash of Avios, most of which I’ve not considered.
Well, I have a stash, and I have pre-emptively booked a couple of European trips for summer (I usually plan holidays about a week in advance). As for the rest, I can only hope Qatar, Finnair, BA aren’t on the same page and that I can still get decent value by redeeming elsewhere for a bit longer.
Very keen to get this 2-4-1 used before redemptions become 2-late-gone 🙂
