Looking to book lhr-cpt but availability in upper class is limited for Oct next year. Does anyone know when Virgin release their availability does this require a midnight phone call?

There is limited availabilty for Oct 2024 because VS havn’t released seats forany date after the 2nd yet.

VS releases seats approx 11 months in advance.

I think the conclusion is they come on some time after 5am as it is vaguely controlled by Delta systems but nobody really knows?

Related but I can’t see a single seat on GRU-LHR in upper class in all of September 2024. Are those not released yet, or already all gone?

I was told 6am a few weeks ago when booking some seats.

I can confirm that at the moment it is not 6am I must say that whilst I have a companion voucher with VA the booking process and limited availability of seats in UC is far more difficult to BA. Perhaps only useful for trips to the USA

I booked a Virgin redemption few days ago. First two agents denied me the seats despite the fact that I could see them on seat spy.
    It was pretty annoying

How can they have denied you something that doesn’t exist on their system?

They aren’t responsible for what seat spy shows. And it’s VS system that matters.

@Jonty_18 and @can2 I have booked 2 UC redemption trips to Barbados and Miami in the last week or so for 2024. Called the Virgin Gold line (am only Silver status but figured it was fair enough for a UC booking). Found agents to be efficient and helpful and they definitely saw the availability that I had found via SeatSpy. Maybe you guys were unlucky and hit times when they were having IT issues. I almost always find the VS experience better than BA. The only real draw backs are their limited network and rather high TFCs but there is still great value to be found and the inflight experience is usually high quality, even if some on here moan about the old seats etc.

Because it was in their system and I booked it when I called them the third time.
I got very suspicious when the agents “checked” my dates very very quickly. It was like instant.

And yes, mine was also for Barbados and for 2024.

I’ve found their staff to be nothing short of wonderful – they’ve actively found ways to save me points and better use my vouchers. I’ve booked four in the last year or so – Washington, Delhi, Shanghai, Delhi/Mumbai – and I’ve never been told there isn’t availability when I think there is.

I’ve found Seatspy to be 24 hours slow with Virgin and told to get lost (being up-to-date isn’t their job, they said) when I complained though…..

Are you sure there will be flights to CPT next October? They only fly during SA summer and this year they restarted early this month.

The Virgin Reward Seat Checker is showing the next new days rewards at around 10pm 332 beforehand. I’ve been checking that for the past week to be sure

Recent experience of monitoring availability and booking an outward to South Africa – Reward seats come available at 5am GMT.

I imagine that it is based on GMT so when we are in British Summer Time, this is pushed to 6am. At my work, our new schedules are released at midnight during GMT, but 1am during BST so it seems likely that an airline’s system is based on UTC/GMT.

Maybe it’s 5am because NYC/US East Coast is midnight and that’s when Delta’s system releases things?
