This question is not asked in search of a firm answer. But how often (in general) do huge bonuses like the 50,000 welcome offer on Avios+ come around? Thankfully my wife bagged the 50k. I didn’t have 6 months since my last barclaycard closure so waiting for now…
Not set in stone but last was like 9 to 12months approx.
I wouldn’t read much into ‘patterns’ on cards which are less than 18 months old.
Truth is the Barclaycard is still working out what works and what doesn’t. ‘Works’ is a broad word which includes the trade off between driving customers, the cost of driving those customers and (the bit Barclays will take a year or so to work out) their long term profitability including their cross-selling potential.
Isn’t it 24 months between cards to get the SUB?

OP was asking how often the increased bonus are promoted.
Is this a regular thing, I’m umm’ing and ahh’ing about whether to sign up to the Avios Plus card but I don’t want to miss out if there’s another massive bonus promotion around the corner.

This site is littered with people who ‘just missed the bonus’ applying last week/ yesterday. Rob said don’t read in patterns but they have done quite a few bonus in the past. I would say if you don’t desperately need the points then wait.
I am waiting for the next plat bonus which is who knows when!
Im also one of those that “just missed the bonus”, but thats because didnt qualify for it at the time.
Now I do qualify, but Ill wait until they may do one. When ever that may be.
In the meantime I’m looking at the Barclays Premier Account. Doesnt seem to bad. 25k Intro Points, 1.5k points every month and a voucher after 1 yr. For £12 a month.
Do i need the Credit Card in order to get access to Dragon Pass, or will the Premier Account be enough for that?
Agree with the people saying wait for a bonus. At least for a few months, anyway.

With the Premier Account you get DragonPass access but you will still have to pay £18.50 to use the lounges. To get the free lounge passes you will need to take out the Avios Plus credit card as well.

There’s no free lounge access with Barclaycard Avios, aside from the 2 (I think? Maybe 4) that you get per year. Amex Platinum and HSBC World Elite have unlimited passes, albeit you need to pay to book if you want any chance of getting into a UK lounge

Sorry, I meant the 4 complementary passes that you get for owning both the credit card and the account.

Thats all i need to know. I dont mind paying £18.50 for access, ill only use it every now and again. Also work pays for meals, but not for a Dragon Pass. That way its easy to expense it with work.

Just so you’re aware, it’s £18.50 plus £5 booking fee. You can risk it without booking but you’ll almost never get into UK lounges without. You won’t get a refund on the DragonPass if you can’t get in – you’ll just have a pass that you can use next time.
