Pre and post pandemic, my last 3 medium / long haul trips have been to Dubai and there has usually been little difficulty in booking business class reward seats using a 2-4-1 voucher. I have usually booked 355 days out or so but have not had to resort to midnight / 1 am reward bookings. I am now planning for something in April 23 again in Dubai and there appears to be a total dearth of business class seats even using a new style 2-4-1 companion voucher which I understand is meant to provide extra business class reward seats. I am aware that 355 days out is only to 6 April 23 and that this is during Easter so demand will be high. In fact Seatspy / Reward flight finder are showing virtually no reward business class seats for the whole of the next year so this does not appear to be a Easter 2023 issue. I know that with covid travel restrictions now greatly reduced, demand will have increased but in the last 5 – 6 years since I have been booking Dubai trips, I don’t think I have ever seen such poor reward seat availability. Anyone else seeing this? Am I missing something?
Yup we’re in the same boat. Ended up booking a cash ticket in J with Swiss, CDG to ZRH to DXB return for £800 each… appreciate most people want to go directly but I thought some decent food in Paris would soften the blow!
No way am I paying BA £3k each and there’s no reward availability.
This often happens if a sale is about to be launched, although it does seem route specific here. Must be something up because you can’t give away business class seats to Dubai during peak Summer.

It was fine until Thursday last week. Poster on flyertalk thinks it is to do with business class capacity being worked out before releasing inventory.
