Hello, I’m pretty new to this so go easy on me. I recently signed up to the AmEx 20k points by getting the gold card. I duly spent the 3k & now find I have over 30k points instead, bonus! Now, I was BA bronze, I also took advantage of the Flying Blue status match to silver, and used them recently for a holiday. My question, which is the better option to transfer my points to BA or KLM? I should point out I’m a pensioner, don’t work, and usually look for the cheapest holiday to Florida I can get twice a year. Last month I waited until 3 weeks before departure when the prices dropped from £680 for 8 nights in Orlando to £530 for the same. Lovely.
Virgin has some cheap economy redemption if you are close to London
Since it appears you have the mileage rewards card then as long as you keep it you don’t have to transfer them to BAC or FB until you actually need to use them which gives you flexibility to chose close to booking.
Living in Newcastle shouldn’t be a bar to flying VS as even flying BA you’d still need to connect at LHR.
Well newcastle is served by both AF & KLM connections, paris and amsterdam, having been gold for AF for a couple years, and if your aim is to fly USA, especially west coast, there is nearly always flying blue offers for redemptions each month to various west coast destinations, NY, boston, DC, Miami etc. these can be had for around 18,000 points each way, so looks like with AMEX you would soon have enough points for a return trip to USA, so my vote would be credit to you flying blue KLM
