Will I receive the BA premium plus welcome bonus if I previously had Amex?

Hi, I am new to all this but wanting to start making my credit cards work to my advantage. I am looking to apply for the BA premium plus, but it isn’t clear if I will be eligible for the welcome bonus as I previously held an Amex Gold Card?
If not, what would you recommend out of Virgin or Barclays to get a companion or upgrade voucher?

You can get the BAPP welcome bonus with the Gold card, yes. The BAPP card only cares if you’ve held an (personal, not business) Avios earning card in the past 24 months.

Obviously you would need different strategies with Virgin points and avios so you might want to collect both, or just focus on one. Rob’s articles on all the various cards and eligibility will help you here.
