Apologies if it’s been mentioned elsewhere, but I was one of the people whose expiry date was shown as April 2026 despite not earning the extension. I received an email from BA today saying the error has been rectified. My end date is now May 25 which is what it should have been
They are a shambles at times!
Frankly, they should have let it be.
I just received the same email.
I requalified for Gold in March 2025.
But the app now says:
Tier Point Collection Year ends
31Mar26
Card expiry
30Sep25
Given I requalified for Gold and so never got a discretionary extension, surely my card expiry should be 30Apr26…
I don’t know what’s going on. Not sure BA do either!

I can see this will be problematic for some, as it is likely some people would have made travel arrangements which included plans for their previously acquired ‘extended’ status.
Looks like BA thinks my card was “gifted” (ie by a GGL).
It wasn’t. It was earned last year. And also the year before.
Not sure of others who received this email also were gifted status or BA (in this case wrongly) believed that to be so.
Here’s the email wording: (my bold)
On 1 April 2025, your new tier point collection year began and we also introduced our refreshed loyalty programme, The British Airways Club.
As a result of system changes, some partner card statuses were incorrectly extended until 30 April 2026.
We’ve now updated your Club account to reflect your current tier and correct expiry date. This will not affect any future partner card nominations that you might receive. We apologise for any confusion caused and appreciate your understanding.
Thank you for your continued loyalty – we look forward to welcoming you on board again soon.

That’s the same as mine. My silver status was gifted. Bizarre.
I will now try to book my 2 x companion voucher flights before the end of May, and hope the seat selection sticks (ie no aircraft changes). I assume I won’t be able to reselect seats if I lose the original ones…
I read that soft landing is supported under the new rules, but I don’t think that applies if your status was gifted? If not, I’ll be blue.
The error in my favour had meant I was feeling less annoyed with BA than I should have been, with regards to the BAEC to BAC changes. I’ll now re-educate myself. I might stop aiming for another companion voucher and cancel my BAPP for a refund, but I’ll think about that and weigh up the pros and cons.
Wouldn’t it be nice to have consistency and reliable information from BA!!
