Evening all.
Wondered if anyone had thoughts on Zanzibar hotels?
We are a family with a 2 year old and 1 year old, looking for somewhere with a pool and ideally on the beach as well.
Looking to stay for a week between activities in Kenya.
With so many options thought I would see if anyone had some real life experiences?
Thanks. NorskS
-Nungwi/Kendwa in the north-west where the best beaches are:
Riu Palace – All -inclusive
Gold Zanzibar – All-inclusive
Zuri Zanzibar – Ultra-luxury
-East of the island (although quality of the beach and access may vary on this side):
Melia Zanzibar
Konokono Beach resort
The Mora – All-inclusive
-South of the Island (beach access very limited):
Le Mersenne (part of Marriott)
The Residence Zanzibar (no beach)
I wouldn’t go to the Mersenne again even if it was free
We stayed at the Doubletree in Nungwi which was right on the beach – sadly it doesn’t appear to be there any longer. We also stayed at an all inclusive adults only hotel on the east coast as well as the Zanzibar Palace which although lovely wouldn’t be suitable for young children
I do suggest you spend a couple of nights in Stonetown – the Park Hyatt may suit.
