Hi,
For any members who regularly fly to Zurich or have any recent experience, I’d be grateful to hear whether there are typically long delays now getting through passport control in Zurich with a UK passport with the e-gates at Zurich now being unavailable.
I realise that like all airports it depends on the volume of flights arriving around the same time but I’d be interested in hearing of your own personal experience in recent times. I’d be arriving into Zurich on a weekday morning either around 0930 or a couple of hours later. Any experience you can offer will help me in scheduling plans following my arrival.
In addition to my post above, any hotel recommendations for Zurich or the Zurich region generally would be appreciated whether privately owned or one of the big hotel groups. Not aiming for the top tier most expensive hotels but happy to look at anything else that you considered gave decent quality and good value.

Two weeks ago, arrived about 8pm Friday, felt quite busy, but through inside 10 minutes even with half an A320 in the queue ahead of us.. bags another 10 after that.
AA92, AC882, LX19, WK11 arriving might get in the way of a quick exit.

Hi Richie, thanks. More like 45+ mins then in that event? I know that it’s like how long is a piece of string etc but just trying to get a very general idea.
I like Lucerne, has a good range of hotels, some chain hotels that are cheaper than Zurich City. If you fancy more mountain than lake, there may be some on the train route to St. Anton.
Richie, I’ve been to Lucerne many times and had lots of wonderful lakeside walks but never actually stayed there. Any particular Lucerne hotels that you would recommend including those chain hotels which are cheaper then Zurich?

Last summer we were on an Accor trip around Switzerland: Novotel in Geneva (10/10), Swissotel in Bern (9/10), and for Zurich we chose the 25hours hotel. It’s skewed towards a younger crowd, every room has a Freitag bag to borrow, there’s a hip bar in the lobby and a funky shop, but given it was August the prices were incredibly low. We took the penthouse suite “Trainspotting” (great view of the city, station, and railway lines – nicer than it sounds) which had an outdoor sundeck, loads of space, well under £200. It’s about 10 minutes West of the station, but it’s a really new district with shops and cafes (and Google offices) all the way along. We’d strongly recommend 25hours, especially if you have Accor Gold of course!

Agreed on 25hours hotel. We stayed in the same one as @aceworking has described in Langstrasse. Really impressed with the hotel, location, the amenities and room, and lack of noise especially given proximity to railway line and very busy bar and restaurant downstairs. Bed very comfy and reasonable rate as mentioned.
There is another 25hours hotel in Zurich, but can’t comment on location etc. Also a few others in other cities in Europe. Will definitely look to stay in others.

I stayed in the 25h in Paris. Right opposite Gare du Nord. Really good pick and the bigger rooms are suitably spacious. Would recommend and I don’t know why they persist with calling themselves a budget brand.
