Bits: Hilton HHonors Diamond bonus, new currency converter website

Links on Head for Points may support the site by paying a commission.  See here for all partner links.

News in brief:

Did you get your Hilton Diamond appreciation bonus?

If you have Diamond status in the Hilton HHonors programme, you may have received a special award from Hilton.  Many members have been given 100,000 points – enough for a night at any Hilton property, even after the horrific 2013 devaluation – as a gift.

Some people did not receive the email from Hilton, potentially because they have opted out.  As you will only receive the bonus if you agree to accept it, anyone who is Hilton Diamond and who has not heard from Hilton should go to this website and enter their account details.

You may be surprised at what you are given.  It even seems to work for people who were given free Hilton Diamond status as a British Airways Gold Guest List benefit.

Hilton Diamond 350

Interesting currency converter website

Reader Lee got in touch to show me his currency conversion website, www.currencyconverter.co.uk.

As well as providing the standard conversion features, the site also has weekly news updates on the foreign exchange markets as well as – handily – fact sheets for almost every currency giving an overview of what to expect when you travel. Bet you don’t know what notes the Angolan Kwanza comes in! It is worth bookmarking.

The hilton offer is a joke, most diamonds including me never received it despite being diamond for many years, seems that if you are a marginal hilton user you have a much higher chance of being rewarded with this offer rather than us loyal customers!
Great way hack off your best customers hilton!

14 years straight as Diamond and no targeted offers. Registration error message on this one too 🙁

  • Susan says:

I’m Gold and clicked through the link above anyway – got confirmation that all stays to end of April will double count towards re-qualification next year.

  • Mr(s) Entitled says:

My Diamond has just expired. I was offered 6 stays before April to requalify.

    • Oh! Matron! says:

And I! Quite happy about this, given that I’ve already completed two stays in the last week 🙂

  • What's the Point says:

    REGISTRATION ERROR
Based on the account number you entered, you are not eligible for an exclusive offer at this time.
3 years Diamond, with 10 stays currently booked for the future.
    Clearly not important enough!

9 years as Diamond and also got nothing. Called them to complain and they couldn’t care less. I actually spent the time explaining how destructive this promotion is. Kick in the face the most loyal customers and reward customers that left the program to go elsewhere. Going forward, all of the “old” diamond customers will be competing with the “new” diamond customers who were rewarded with higher status with fewer stays and will have extra points in their accounts.

      I’m done with Hilton.

My mother-in-law was somehow given HH Plat instead of HH Gold when I directed here to get an Amex Plat a few years ago. It seems that HH thiought she was a Centurion card holder. Nice luck.
Then the HH Plat has renewed two more years. And now she’s got the 100k bonus. Unbelievable!

  • Gerry says:

Just been given – or at least, promised – the 100K. Excellent!

I’d never heard of this until now.
