Bits: Hilton HHonors Diamond bonus, new currency converter website

News in brief:

Did you get your Hilton Diamond appreciation bonus?

If you have Diamond status in the Hilton HHonors programme, you may have received a special award from Hilton.  Many members have been given 100,000 points – enough for a night at any Hilton property, even after the horrific 2013 devaluation – as a gift.

Some people did not receive the email from Hilton, potentially because they have opted out.  As you will only receive the bonus if you agree to accept it, anyone who is Hilton Diamond and who has not heard from Hilton should go to this website and enter their account details.

You may be surprised at what you are given.  It even seems to work for people who were given free Hilton Diamond status as a British Airways Gold Guest List benefit.

Hilton Diamond 350

Interesting currency converter website

Reader Lee got in touch to show me his currency conversion website, www.currencyconverter.co.uk.

As well as providing the standard conversion features, the site also has weekly news updates on the foreign exchange markets as well as – handily – fact sheets for almost every currency giving an overview of what to expect when you travel. Bet you don’t know what notes the Angolan Kwanza comes in! It is worth bookmarking.

  • BlueHorizonUK says:

Raffles do you know if the Hilton double miles or points offer is combinable with the Virgin bonus points offer?

    • Alan says:

Based on previous Hilton promos you’ll have no trouble receiving both 🙂

      • Think Square says:

Ah – but should you take double points or double miles? (One for an article maybe, Rob)

        • Alan says:

Double points 🙂 The miles earning is shockingly poor now the fixed bonuses have gone. Even if you want to have you earning as points+miles for any mileage promo that’s on you’ll still earn the bonus points if you’ve signed up for that offer – you don’t need to be on points+points to earn the extra 10 per USD 🙂

2 years diamond hitting the nights target easily after defecting from Marriott – not eligible.

Not often something from HFP pisses me off…..

  • Nathan says:

Nkthing for me either! I wonder what the criteria is to be eligible?!

  • ComeFlyWithMe123 says:

Seeing as this is a “bits and bobs” article. The Club magazine have a new offer with the Gourmet Society

“Get a four-month membership to the Gourmet Society plus a half-case of wine for £4.49”

Looks like a good bargain, for £9.48 you get

    4 month membership
    250 avios
£40 wine voucher (no conditional spend from what I can tell)

    Offer ends 11th March

  • JK says:

Wow! Incredible! Got the 100k, and I haven’t stayed with Hilton in yonks (I’m Diamond by way of AmEx Cent).

Is 100k Hilton points worth much? How much would a night at a typical Conrad cost?

    • Rob says:

I’d value it at £300. 80k for a Conrad is about right.

      • JK says:

Wow! Can’t complain about that! Will have to see if they have any nice properties in Dubai, Bali or Kuala Lumpur for a trip in April.

        • Think Square says:

IME… Conrad Bali (50k per night) is disappointing; Hilton KL (40k per night) is fab. Can’t remember ever staying in a Dubai Hilton, so either I haven’t or it was forgettable!

  • Don says:

Now that I’ve had two stays on the BAEC Hilton (3500) promo where else should I credit my stays?

I can’t see an Iberia promo and nothing for VS which is unusual!

  • Dave Williams says:

Any diamond members that “aren’t eligible” – tweet @Hiltonhotels and tell them. Marketing departments have a lot of clout. Cant hurt to show how pissed off the most loyal members of HH are by this…..

  • Daniel says:

Seems to be working now and got a rather different offer to everyone else….. I wonder if this is why it was ‘down’ for a while:
You’re now registered to take advantage of this exclusive offer. Each stay through April 30, 2015, will count double toward the number of stays needed to achieve your 2016 tier status. Book now and get a boost on upgrading your tier status today.
