Forums Payment cards Barclaycard Avios Open Banking

Has anyone had any success with linking the card with any financial service using “Open Banking”. Barclaycard customer services think that the tech team have yet to add this new card/product to the system but are unsure.

I also have been unable to get an owner inside Barclaycard on this error. After hours of being passed around an agent started the complaints process for me, as their internal knowledge base is bare.

No, I can’t use open banking either. Nor can I get the card to work with Curve or PayPal

Today I have been able to link my Avios plus MasterCard to open banking , which is nice 🙂 Happily married up the thing I need via ‘trulayer’ now

Curve is fine. Some people have issues until they make a chip and pin transaction, at which point it frees up.

At first I was unable to link the Barclaycard to Nectar Connect via Open Banking. I clicked on the image for Barclays (bank) and then I couldn’t see my Avios card in the list of available cards. Having started the process from the top, I noticed there is another image for Barclaycard. After I clicked on that and logged in, I was able to see my card and managed to add it without any problems.

    Not sure if this helps?

    @BugAlugs
Did you manage to add the card with your Barclays login? Or also via Barclaycard login like rum above?

The Barclays link worked from day one and did not present the Barclaycard account. It only presented the current account.

I saw Barclaycard as an option. It would open up the Barclaycard login panel (web page based) , I could log in but at the point of passing security a red box would appear with the helpful “something went wrong”. I was able to show this error on demand by using the Barclaycard web page , going to user details , scrolling down to third parties where the same “something went wrong” on Friday this error message on the website had gone. Yesterday ,much to my delight, trulayer was able to connect.

So it didn’t work at the start. I tried all avenues

I use a application called “MoneyWiz” on my Mac and that does pull down transations.

I can’t get it to add to my monzo account. Just keeps saying no account found. Any ideas?

I can’t get my Avios Plus card to appear on open banking using Barclays or Barclaycard option. Tried via a number of third parties but no luck!

I managed to fix open banking for Monzo connecting to Barclaycard (the “no eligible accounts” error). The trick is to DELETE the Barclaycard app. Monzo then redirects to the Barclaycard website which successfully supports setting up open banking.

Presumably I’ll have to do this every 90 days when the OB authorisation expires.

Not sure if I’ll keep this card that long with all these headaches!

No joy for me today with Truelayer – same issue as @BugAlugs. But I’ll give it a few days and try again, perhaps it needs some transactions to post or something before it’ll work

As an aside, are you using Truelayer for personal use to aggregate transactions? Wondering now if I could knock up something to consolidate my various monthly credit cards. It’ll probably take me longer to write than it takes to marge 3 CSV files every month but it’ll be more fun.

I use “You need a budget”. I don’t think I use it properly TBH but I’ve used it for years and got it working in a way that suits me. Hefty price rise this year so I may consider other options next time it needs to renew

Could you not just download a single combined CSV from Money Dashboard or whatever aggregator app you use? (If that is what you need)

I don’t use an aggregator because I’ve yet to find one that actually works for all my accounts. Truelayer doesn’t support Amex it turns out. Lots of them don’t support BAPP. I have long since given up with them so was hoping I could just roll my own but these days all the APIs need serious approvals. They are no longer designed for hobbyists.

I don’t use an aggregator at all. None of them I have tried works across all my accounts (often it is Amex that fails) or I am too cheap to pay. Turns out Truelayer falls into the “doesn’t support Amex” camp

Thanks for this tip. Used this method with Nectar Connect when it first failed through the app. Tried again on iPad with no app and it connected right away going through the Barclays website.

Thank you, I had the same issue with Snoop and wasted many hours and calls to no avail. Removing the Barclaycard app did the trick – much appreciated.

Just another fail from Barclaycard, getting a bit fed up and would have ditched and switched if the avios was not a good earner

For anyone who doesn’t want to delete their app, but still wants to be able to sign up for Open Banking, and is on Android:

Go to Settings > Apps and notifications > Barclaycard > Open by default > Open supported links

Select “Don’t allow app to open links”

This will allow you to go through the browser and have Open Banking consent actually work. You can go back and reset the option to “Allow app to open supported links” after you’re done.

Note of caution: I’m using a OnePlus phone, so these might differ on other Android phones – I haven’t checked.
