Get a 100% Avios bonus for two weeks with BAA WorldPoints

For two weeks only, from today – July 2nd – to July 15th, BAA WorldPoints is offering a 100% bonus if you convert your stash of WorldPoints into Avios.

This is a very good offer, and I recommend taking it up.  Let’s say you have 1,000 WorldPoints in your account.  That is usually worth either:

• a £10 BAA shopping voucher
• £20 off pre-booked car parking (but in BAA’s premium priced car parks)
• 1,000 Flying Club miles
• 1,500 BMI Diamond Club miles (ie 1,500 Avios from July 3rd)
• 1,000 Miles & More miles
• 1,200 Avios (obviously you should ignore this option and convert via BMI instead!)

Even in normal circumstances, Avios is a decent redemption option.  Effectively you are ‘paying’ (compared to the alternative of a £10 shopping voucher) just 0.66p per Avios if you convert via BMI Diamond Club, which is very good value.  With this promotion, you will be getting 2,400 Avios for every 1,000 WorldPoints, which is far, far better than a £10 shopping voucher.

What is even better is that this promotion can, admittedly just for 10 days or so, be combined with the double WorldPoints on all your shopping promotion I flagged last week, which also starts today. 

WorldPoints always (well, from Heathrow at least) post to your account within 24 hours of making the transaction, so any spend at a BAA airport up to 13th July and probably even 14th July should be available for transfer on the last day of the double Avios promotion (15th July).
