It’s back – 500 Clubcard points (1,200 Avios) for joining TopCashback

It’s back!  If you missed this deal when it ran in January, now is your chance to jump on board.

TopCashback, like Quidco, is a site which allows you to earn a small amount of cashback on your day to day shopping by clicking through to participating merchants.

Last year, TopCashback launched a feature allowing you to pay your cashback directly into your Tesco Clubcard account – and give you a 5% bonus on top!

This dramatically increased the value of TopCashback cashback versus Quidco:

£10 of cashback earned at Quidco earns you £10

£10 of cashback earned at TopCashback earns you £10.50 (with the 5% bonus) paid into your Tesco Clubcard account. That gives you 1,050 Clubcard points. These convert into 2,520 Avios points or 2,625 Virgin Flying Club miles. You are effectively ‘buying’ Avios points for just 0.4p each.

I have had a ‘refer a friend’ link to TopCashback on the site for a while, and I am grateful to everyone who used it.  If you haven’t already joined up, there is now a generous incentive.

Until 24th March, if you join TopCashback via our refer-a-friend link you will receive 500 Clubcard points when you have earned £10 of cashback.  You must use a refer-a-friend link or you will not receive the bonus.

There is no time limit on how long you have to earn your £10 cashback – a month, three months, six months, whatever.  You therefore have little to lose, if you are not already a member, by signing up now.

Note that your 500 points are not deposited directly into your Clubcard account.  Once you have earned £10 cashback, TopCashBack will put a further £5 in your TopCashBack account.  However, you can only withdraw this £5 to your Tesco Clubcard account.

You can transfer up to £50 of cashback per year from TopCashBack to Clubcard (a year runs from the date of your first Tesco transfer, not the calendar year or from the date you joined).  This means that you can earn up to 12,000 Avios per year this way!  Your £5 sign-up bonus does NOT count towards your £50 per year cap.

The only condition is that you join via a refer-a-friend link.  If you sign up directly on the TopCashBack site, you will not receive your 500 Clubcard points.

What next?

If you are not already a TopCashback member, you should open a TopCashback account now and use it for your day-to-day online shopping instead of Quidco.

(If you are already a member, why not refer your partner – as long as they have their own Clubcard account – via your own refer-a-friend link, which you can find on the TopCashback site?)

There are two membership levels at TopCashback – a free version and a £5 annual fee version.  The £5 level pays slightly higher cashback and has improved customer service if you have any problems.  However, you will receive the 500 Clubcard points whichever level you choose.  To be honest, I would start at the free level and only upgrade when you have decided that you like the site.

Unfortunately, there is no notice on the TCB site that you will be signing up for the Tesco offer.  However, don’t worry, you will be fine!  ALL refer-a-friend transactions until 24th March will be receiving it.

You may want to take a look at some of ‘easy money’ offers on TopCashBack, or even their ‘free money’ offers. If you know what you are doing, some of the gambling and bingo sites offer effectively free money for signing up and betting a small minimum.  You can minimise losses by having your partner sign up and then taking opposite win/lose bets on the same sporting event.

I receive a commission for referring you which helps to support HFP.  Thank you.

  1. Can non UK residents sign up for Tesco Clubcard and does it make sense?

    • Probably not. I live abroad most of the year and I now can’t even access my Clubcard account online now when I’m outside of the UK. New security measures by the looks of it. Annoyingly it means that if an Avios deal comes up I won’t be able to take advantage of it.

      • You need a UK VPN

      • czechoslovakia says:

Aha! Tried logging in to (several) of my CC accounts abroad and it wouldn’t let me. That riddle is solved then. Somewhat annoying as I`m abroad 3 weeks every month.

        • It’s a rather foolish development. If I wanted to order a grocery delivery in advance to arrive a few hours after I get back from abroad (saving myself a trip to the supermarket after a long haul flight) then I can’t use any clubcard vouchers or coupons as I can’t even check my account from abroad to get the voucher codes. Daft.

  2. Kris Schimmel says:

Still waiting to be paid when I signed up in January

  3. If you’re referring your partner you should not use the same computers / browsers and IP addresses.

  4. Jonathan says:

Any news yet on any Avios conversion bonuses from Tesco? I have some vouchers sat in my account now ready to go! 🙂

    • squills says:

It seems to be a case of ‘no news is bad news’ ;-(

I think it won’t happen again – or if it does, at a somewhat paltry bonus level eg 750 instead of 600.

  5. Thanks Amo. The site works because of lots of little purchases from lots of people!

  6. Jonathan says:

I did some of those just over a year ago actually – following the Matched Betting stuff on Moneysavingexpert, earned a £100 or so. Could have continued, but it’s a lot of work!

    • I tried this back in 2006 when there were lots of bonuses, and before the US cracked down on this, but I ended up losing money despite following the basic strategy!

  7. HI I also have opened an account using your referral limk as the knowledge and savings you share with us is exceptional . Have used many tips and had many savings and offers and i view your site daily . The service you provide is excellent have told my friends to use it also .

  8. The refer a friend link does not appear to be working. Any suggestions?

    • squills says:

The refer a friend link works – but looks like the 500 T points promo is over

      • No, it runs until next Monday as per the terms and conditions linked in the post.

However, there is no notification you are getting the Tesco bonus – it will turn up though!

  9. Yes, there is a chaser post for this tomorrow. Today was the chaser post for the Virgin cards!
