Maximise your Avios, air miles and hotel points

Best ever bonus – 1,000 Clubcard points (2,400 Avios) for joining TopCashback

Links on Head for Points may pay us an affiliate commission. A list of partners is here.

TopCashback, a site which allows you to earn a small amount of cashback on your day to day shopping by clicking through to participating merchants, has launched its most generous sign-up offer yet.

Until June 21st, you will receive 1,000 Clubcard points – convertible into 2,400 Avios points or 2,500 Virgin Flying Club miles – when you sign up for free and earn just £10 in cashback.

TopCashback works with many major internet retailers and pays you a small commission for every purchase you make after clicking through to their site.  If you current use the Avios e-store, the British Airways Gate 365 shopping mall or the Virgin Flying Club Shops Away site, you should consider moving across to TopCashback instead.

Earn Avios for signing up

What makes TopCashback unique among cashback sites is that it allows you to pay your cashback directly into your Tesco Clubcard account – and gives you a 5% bonus on top.

This dramatically increased the value of TopCashback cashback versus a site such as Quidco:

£10 of cashback earned at Quidco earns you £10

£10 of cashback earned at TopCashback earns you £10.50 (with the 5% bonus) paid into your Tesco Clubcard account. That gives you 1,050 Clubcard points. These convert into 2,520 Avios points or 2,625 Virgin Flying Club miles. You are effectively ‘buying’ Avios points for just 0.4p each.

You can transfer up to £50 of cashback per year from TopCashback to Clubcard (a year runs from the date of your first Tesco transfer, not the calendar year or from the date you joined). This means that you can earn up to 12,000 Avios per year this way. Your 1,000 Clubcard points sign-up bonus does NOT count towards your £50 per year cap.

Once you have hit your £50 annual cap on transferring to Clubcard, you can transfer further cashback directly to Avios points if you want. For every £1 of cashback you earn, you will have the choice of taking £1 as cash into Paypal or your bank account or receiving 105 Avios points.

How to join TopCashback

To receive the 1,000 Tesco Clubcard points for signing up, you MUST use this link here (click).

This offer cannot be combined with the standard TopCashback refer-a-friend offer.  You must use the link above to join.

There is no time limit on how long you have to earn your £10 cashback – a month, three months, six months, whatever. You therefore have little to lose, if you are not already a member, by signing up now.

There are two membership levels at TopCashback – a free version and a £5 annual fee version. The £5 level pays slightly higher cashback and has improved customer service if you have any problems. However, you will receive the 1,000 Clubcard points whichever level you choose. To be honest, I would start at the free level and only upgrade when you have decided that you like the site.

What next?

If you are not already a TopCashback member, you should open a TopCashback account now and use it for your day-to-day online shopping instead of Quidco.

If you are already a member, why not refer your partner – as long as they have their own Clubcard account?  In fact, you should encourage every member of your British Airways household account to sign-up.

You may want to take a look at some of ‘easy money’ offers on TopCashback, or even their ‘free money’ offers. If you know what you are doing, some of the gambling and bingo sites offer effectively free money for signing up and betting a small minimum. You can minimise losses by having your partner sign up and then taking opposite win/lose bets on the same sporting event.

My verdict

TopCashback has run various sign-up bonuses over the last couple of years where they have offered Clubcard points.  However, they have never offered a bonus as generous as this one.  This is as good a time as any to join if you haven’t got around to it yet.

The link to sign up – for free – is here.  The offer runs until June 21st.

I did William Hill and Coral for the champions league final, William hill tracked and Coral hasn’t – yet. 🙁

  • Sean says:

    Be careful here!
I signed up when their last offer was on. Bought house and car insurance. Changed utilities and then waited 4-5 months for the cash back to appear in my account to only find out that I could only transfer the balance into my bank account, I could not transfer it into my tesco clubcard or into any of the other schemes they have on offer.
Before you take the product there is nothing saying what you can actually move your cash back into.

    • bob says:

100% incorrect. Each deal specifies whether certain possible payment out methods are barred.

    • JQ says:

It also doesn’t count for getting any referral or joining bonus, unless something has changed recently.

  • Guy says:

Joined 10 days ago so missed this offer. Bummer.

Did William Hill and Betfair. William Hill posted Betfair still waiting.

Rob, I think I recall you saying your mum was in your baec household account. Did you switch her address to yours before adding her or are BA in practice not fussed whether addresses are the same? Thanks.

  • NickC says:

Hmm! Tried to register using link provided and got an immediate “The page you are looking for cannot be found” message. Yet I got an e-mail a few seconds later asking me to validate my new account. Strange! Does this mean I’m now signed up, but I won’t qualify for the Tesco offer?

  • James67 says:

Highlighted under payment terms at payment stage I have often seen ‘cost for credit’ just under the figure. I think this might be an easy to spot warning of the problem Bob highlights.

  • bob says:

Signed up with £5 and £52.50 has tracked already 🙂

Lost the lot on the pokies but hey! that’s £47.50 profit for 3 mins work lol

    • bob says:

No particular reason your spouse/ partner @ the same address can’t join too provided they have a credit card in their name I guess:

3.8 You may only register once as a customer with us, and only manage one player account. You are not permitted to register again using another name or another e-mail address. In particular you are not permitted to register third-parties – even if they give their consent in that respect. This also applies, among other things, to friends and relations. You are not permitted to sell, transfer or acquire your account. If, due to any connection between user ac-counts, we have grounds to suspect that you have opened more than one ac-count, we are entitled to cancel any bets placed, reclaim any prize money paid and cancel any premiums granted. Any such suspicion may only be rebutted by you proving to us beyond any doubt, that the user accounts have been opened by separate individuals and that our Terms and Conditions of Business have not been breached.

      • bob says:

This deal (MyBet) is now dead but there are plenty of others similar.

    • bob says:

      = £950 an hour rate.

      I’ll take it

  • ADS says:

I’ve never bothered with a Tesco Clubcard account, but with this offer I think I will have to !

Do Tesco ever have a Clubcard signup bonus ?
