All this week, Head for Points is running an exciting competition in association with hotel booking app HotelTonight.

We have a prize of £300 of hotel credit to be won!  One lucky reader will see £300 of credit deposited into their HotelTonight account.

The prize will be valid for 12 months and can be used at any of their properties in over 1,900 cities.

In addition, every reader – even those who have booked with HotelTonight before – will receive a discount off their next booking.

No purchase is required to enter the competition but you must be a UK resident to win.

What is HotelTonight?

HotelTonight is an app which allows you to book a carefully curated selection of hotels, at all price points, up to seven days in advance. By restricting itself to seven days advance booking, it can persuade hotels to offer discounted prices because they will know by that point that they will not be full.

The company operates in 36 countries with over 1,900 cities currently covered, so you won’t struggle to find somewhere to spend your £300 credit if you win.

Hotel Tonight discount code

HotelTonight is only available as an app. There is no website through which you can book. Restricting access to deals to registered users is another way that the company can persuade hotels to offer deals through the platform.

The iOS app can be downloaded here

The Android app can be downloaded here

The Windows Phone app can be downloaded here

HotelTonight is currently offering a special deal to all Head for Points readers:

If you are new to HotelTonight, download the app, register and enter code HFP on the ‘Redeem promo code’ page.  You will receive £20 off your first booking of £110 + taxes.  This is valid at ANY hotel globally, not just UK ones, and will work until the end of 2016.

If you have already downloaded the app and registered, enter code HFP2 on the ‘Redeem promo code’ page.  You will receive £15 off any stay of two or more nights with a total cost of £180 + taxes.  The code is valid globally and will last until the end of 2016.

IMPORTANT: the £20 / £15 will show as a coupon on your account under the “Redeem promo code” section. It does NOT show as a credit and your ‘Credit’ total will still show £0.

You have until 31st December to redeem your credit.  However, with Easter approaching, now would be a good time to give HotelTonight a try.

What can you win?

We are giving away ONE prize of £300 HotelTonight credit.

The prize will be valid for 12 months and can be used in any of their properties worldwide.  As you will see from the app, the company operates in a huge number of cities so you won’t have any problems using your credit.

How do I enter?

It is automatic when you enter either of two discount codes above into the HotelTonight app.

New users need to download the HotelTonight app for your iPhone, Android or Windows Phone device and claim your £20 of free credit by using the code HFP.  That is it!

There is NO requirement to make a booking.

If you have already downloaded the HotelTonight app then open it and use the HFP2 code under ‘Redeem promo code’.  You will then be entered in the draw.

The competition will close at midnight UK time on Friday 18th March. The winner will be picked at random from all valid HT members who enter either the HFP or HFP2 code into the app.

The other rules

The competition is only open to residents of the UK.

Under UK law, I am obliged to make the names of the winners available on request. The joint promoters of the competition are HotelTonight and Head for Points, contact details available on request.

Good luck!

OT: I am in the middle of a strong cold and I am supposed to leave shortly for my holidays..
Can someone remind me as my brain is clearly not fully working atm:

When booking hotels via aggregators, OTAs etc :
    1) do I get hotel points (Hilton/Accor/IHG/Club Carlson) – not sure
    2) will my status be honoured (i believe not)
    3) We are talking about US properties

thank you, very much appreciated as I am fairly confused with everything:(

    • Matt says:

I can only speak for Hilton in the US as this happened to me the 3 weeks ago:
      1) I did not get any base points for the price of the room, however I was able to add my HHonors number at check-in and received the 1,000 Diamond bonus points plus points on incidental spend.
      2) I also got the usual benefits (exec room access etc.)

    • signol says:

      1. Generally, no, though some chains (Hilton, IHG) will when it is a corporate travel agent rather than a consolidator
      2. In my experience, it depends. I received IHG Gold benefit (free drink) when booking though the Hotel Tonoght app, but nothing from an Accor stay at a Mercure booked through a corporate travel agent.
      3. No idea, sorry, as I haven’t been to the US in years.
      Hope this helps!

Thanks for the post Rob. Just to let you and others know, I downloaded the app on Windows Phone 8.1. Signed up using Facebook and proceeded to redeem my promo code (HFP as a first time user).

I received the message “Please update your app to the latest version so you can use this code”. I just installed it! Checked for updates just incase but it is the latest version available to me.

Not a surprise though as us Windows Phone users are accustomed to less attention from app developers 🙁

  • Michael says:

What is people’s experience of booking a room on Hotel Tonight that fits 2 adults and a child, as it always states rooms are guaranteed to fit 2 adults? Or what are costs on average to ensure a child fits in too when checking in?

  • Will says:

The codes don’t work on the Windows Phone app. It tells me to update the app to the latest version, which I’ve done, but it still doesn’t work. I remember this being the case last time they ran a promo with you, why haven’t they fixed it?

    • Rob says:

You’re right, it was a problem last time too now you remind me. I remember that if you emailed them via the app they could add it to your account manually.
