Very generous Best Western / Miles & More promotion – earn 3,500 miles per stay

Best Western is popular with Head for Points readers.  When I did my hotel survey last year, roughly 1 in 6 HfP readers said they had stayed in one over the previous 12 months.

You may have wondered why I didn’t write more about Best Western Rewards in that case.  The reason is that, for historical reasons, UK residents were enrolled into a separate scheme to most of the rest of the world.  UK residents were not eligible for any of the many Best Western Rewards promotions that ran on a regular basis.

Best Western Rewards

This has now changed.

From January 1st, the UK version of Best Western Rewards was merged with the global programme.

This led to various changes.  Some are good, some are less good.  For UK members, the key Best Western Rewards changes were:

you no longer earn points on restaurant spend, only on your room rate spend

free redemption nights no longer include free breakfast

new status tiers and benefits have been introduced

The earning rate has moved from 10 points per 55p to 10 points per $1 but this is only a minor difference.  UK-specific gift card redemptions (Amazon, John Lewis, Currys etc) have been retained which is good news.

Hotel room redemptions are theoretically now easier to find as hotels are now obliged to make a fixed percentage of their rooms available.  The downside is that dynamic pricing has been introduced which increases the cost at peak time.

Improved airline mile transfer partners

The only decent airline transfer partner before 1st January was Virgin Atlantic.  This offered 500 miles per stay.

Best Western Rewards members in the UK can now choose from 19 different airlines.  The full list is here.  These include Miles & More (500 miles per stay), American Airlines (250 miles) and Flying Blue (250 miles).  Avios remains a notable exception.

For one-night stays, I still think that taking airline miles is a better deal.

Generous Lufthansa Miles & More promotion now available

Miles & More is offering a 600% bonus on Best Western stays until 31st October.

This means that you will earn a whopping 3,500 Miles & More miles per stay which – as long as you are adding them to an existing balance – would be worth around £35.

This is valid for UNLIMITED stays during the period.  It is an excellent on your expenditure for cheap stays.

You MUST register for this offer via this page (fourth offer down) on the Miles & More website.  You must then change your Best Western profile on the website to earn miles instead of points.

You can find our more about Best Western Rewards here.

I’ve registered for this after various convolutions and setting up Miles and More. Hopefully a few stays in the next fortnight.

Trying first hotel tonight. We will see.

      Any luck with this?

I have registered for this promo and stayed in BW recently. LH is under my preferences and today 500 miles have posted to my M&M account.

When do I need expect other 3k? Or who do I need to chase for them?

  • Concerto says:

I found M&M mileage credit a bit patchy at best and doesn’t always work, so I haven’t used BW a whole lot because of that. Right now I can’t remember or find my BW membership number so I hope they can pull it up for me.

  • Boris says:

I usually find my forgotten numbers from the Award Wallet app on my Smartphone,

  • Boris says:

Also BW have their own app.
