Click here from 9am to visit Eventbrite and book.

As I wrote on Wednesday, I’m pleased that – after four years of pestering from readers about organising a get-together – we are holding the first Head for Points reader Christmas party on Tuesday 6th December.

We are taking over the Dry Martini bar at the Melia White House hotel.  The White House hotel is an attractive 1930’s building situated just a few minutes walk from Warren Street, Regents Park and Great Portland Street tube stations.

This is a great opportunity for you to have a few pre-Christmas drinks and, more importantly, to meet fellow readers and to share your travel hints and tips – and perhaps even learn a few inside secrets that can’t be written about online.

Melia Hotels International is generously sponsoring the party and underwriting a large percentage of the drinks bill.

There will also be a prize draw on the night.  One guest will win a very attractive prize from Melia – more details coming soon – and there will be a number of runner up prizes too.

Because we need to ensure that people who ask for tickets turn up, we are charging £15 for tickets.  However, your £15 ticket covers unlimited house wine and beer between 6pm and 8pm.  Soft drinks will also be available.  We are not making a penny from this and indeed Melia Hotels International is footing the bulk of the cost.  After 8pm, the bar will remain open for cash payments for anyone who wants to stay longer.

We honestly have no idea how popular the event will be but I hope that as many of you as possible can come along to meet Anika and myself and to talk miles, points, credit cards and travel with other readers.  You might even win a prize!

Don’t be nervous about coming on your own.  Frequent flyers are a friendly bunch and always happy to share details of their recent trips and miles-earning tips.

Click here to book your ticket from 9am.  American Express is accepted.

We look forward to seeing you on the 6th.

Gutted I can’t make it that night.

Completely off topic – anyone heard of any winners from the shell/avios competition last month?

Huzzah! I got one! Just need to book the time off now.

Well done Rob! Have a great night everyone.

  • Cat says:

Boo! My busiest teaching day of the week finally finished, and the tickets have sold out!

    🙁

  • Peter Taysum says:

Enjoy all. For those of us in the regions…. please can we have more notice for any future plans to fly down…?

    Have a great time!

    • Rob says:

Hopefully. This is a learning curve for us, next time will be smoother in terms of planning.

  • Geoggy says:

I forgot all about this as I was Black Friday shopping – then remembered about 3.30 – must have been one of the last to get a ticket! See you there

    • Fenny says:

I think I was the last to get one at about 5.30. The internet access is much stricter at my new job, so I had to wait until I got home.

  • Alex W says:

Gutted. Had no idea tickets were limited – otherwise would have bought this morning.

    • Waribai says:

This is the HFP Xmas party we’re talking about! I booked at 9:05am and even then I thought I might be out of luck!

      • Rob says:

To be honest, because of the Southern strike and the potential Piccadilly and Hammersmith tube strike – and the short notice – we were a bit nervous. Well, I was, Anika had more faith!

We now have an idea of the number of tickets we can sell. We have mastered Eventbrite. The key thing we need to learn from next week is how much the average guest drinks. After we know this, putting together future events should be a lot easier.

        • Leo says:

Didn’t get a ticket but I’m really pleased for you that it’s already a big success! 🙂

  • Lady London says:

A pity I had to work all day till now and not able to log on so missed this completely.
