News in brief:

New Charles Tyrwhitt discount codes launched – and earn Avios

Avios has recently partnered with shirt maker Charles Tyrwhitt to offer Avios points whenever you shop with them.  This includes purchases in any of their stores, where the staff will take your avios.com or British Airways Executive Club number and ensure that 4 Avios per £1 are added to your account.

Tyrwhitt is launching some new online discount codes.  From now until 29th August, you can get additional savings on online orders via their site with these codes:

UKSTP5 – £5 off £50

UKSTP10 – £10 off £75

UKSTP15 – £15 off £100

There is a big box marked “Apply an offer code” on the checkout page.

Details of the Avios partnership are on the Tyrwhitt website here.  The shirts included in the current clearance, which are included in this deal, can be found here.

Railcard August Sale

National Rail is currently running an August sale on Railcards.

If you buy any of the major Railcards online before 31st August, you will save 10%.  This deal covers the Friends & Family Railcard, 16-25 Railcard, Senior Railcard and Two Together Railcard.

The Railcard website is here.  You need to enter the code AUGUST10MS to take advantage of this offer.

Heathrow Rewards

Double Heathrow Rewards points on Apple computing

Heathrow Rewards is offering double points until 30th September when you buy any iMac or Macbook at Dixons Travel.

You can reserve an item in advance – and check prices – via this page of the Heathrow website.  This allows you to make an informed choice in advance of your trip on whether the tax free price is genuinely good value or not.

Heathrow Rewards points convert into Avios, Virgin Flying Club, Emirates Skywards, Etihad Guest and Lufthansa Miles & More at 1:1 – or more if you hold off for a conversion bonus.

Why is it that the Network Railcard is never part of these promos?? Really annoying as none of the others apply to me

    • John says:

Because they don’t need to encourage you to travel by train. They would get rid of it if they could

  • Frank De Jongh Swemer says:

Also, at Charles Tyrwhitt the code TUBE discounts all shirts online or in store to £22.95, Handy if you just want to get one shirt. This add has appeared on London Underground in the last week.

  • Stephen C says:

Slightly OT, has anyone used their £5 Heathrow Rewards vouchers yet from the conversion promo in May? Just wondering how long they take to put them through, particularly in Dixons

  • Nigel Huggins says:

Dont forget that just £15 of Tesco shopping vouchers gets you a 12 month rail card absolutely “free”.

    • Jordan D says:

Although annoying the Network Railcard isn’t on that offer either.

      • Aeronaut says:

The Network Railcard never has promotional offers on.

I can think of only one years ago run by South West Trains, that’s it.

As a commenter above suggested, we could perhaps just be grateful it exists at all – unlike the ‘national’ Railcards, its existence is not protected by statute.

        • David says:

If you find someone with an annual gold card, they can get you a railcard for £10…

          • Aeronaut says:

True, but they can only do this once per annual Gold Card (unless the ticket clerk doesn’t do what they are supposed to do!).

          • David says:

@aeronaut – I’ve never known the ticket clerk to do what they’re supposed to do yet. And for those of us on a split ticket gold card (I.e I have two and save £400 by doing so) the opportunities are doubled!

  • Paul says:

The CT offer comes on the heals of their price hike! It was 4 shirts for £100 but the last brochure that hit my mat had higher prices.

  • Zoe says:

OT my daughter is travelling on a Hand Luggage only ticket on BA to Stockholm Friday afternoon. I’m trying to remember how the self check in machine trick for picking seats works? Does she check in on her phone but not print or save boarding pass today? Or do nothing today?
If anyone with status fancies guesting her into the lounge that would also be amazing 🙂 (Her flight is at about 5pm)
    Thanks in advance….

  • Ant says:

Looking to use avios to book Christchurch to Cairns – no direct flights so need to change in Brisbaine. The BA website is showing availability with Qanta only in business but cannot book it online.

Anyone know how many miles I would need and the cost?
Also is the cancellation charges same as when booking BA flights? Thanks

  • leo_C says:

Railcard – The 10% discount is for the one year only card- not for the 3 year Railcard- not surprising i guess.
