Sneaky airport parking deals with

You may remember reading about when it launched.  The original premise of the site is that, if you live near a station or shopping area, you could use the site to rent out your driveway for less than the cost of a standard parking space in the area.

This is still part of the business, and the site claims – in London – to be 60% cheaper than on-street parking.

The site has evolved, as websites tend to do.  Today, there are large numbers of businesses – including a lot of hotels – who rent out their car parking spaces via JustPark.  Many of these are near UK airports.

Let’s imagine that I am looking for 8 days parking at Heathrow from 2nd to 9th September.

JustPark has a few private driveways to rent from £27 – an exceptional price for a week of parking.  These houses are within the Heathrow ‘free bus travel’ zone so you won’t have to pay to jump on a bus to the terminal.

There are also some hotels available.

The Marriott on Bath Road is offering 8 days for £46.50.  The Premier Inn charges £58.30.

For comparison, I had a look at the official Heathrow Airport car parks for Terminal 5 the same period.  They wanted a minimum of £86.50 for the long stay Terminal 5 car park, up to £134 for the short stay Terminal 5 car park.  The ‘pod parking’ car park is £133.

JustPark has similar deals across the UK, not just at airports, and is worth bearing in mind next time you travel.

You may even be able to use it to avoid rip-off hotel car parking charges.  For example, the Marriott at Heathrow charges £15 per day if you are staying at the hotel – but, as I showed above, JustPark has it for under £6 per day based on an 8-day booking.

  1. Not always cheaper though. Have a booking at T3 Business parking next month – cost £146. For the same period the driveways are asking between £90 and £208!! Most of the prices are around the £115 mark.

I could have booked long stay for £110.50, which is the same if not cheaper than most of the driveways.

  2. Will Hardiep says:

We’re regular users of Just Park having used it for a number of UK airports.
In fact we’ve just parked at a private house on the JP website for East Midlands airport and currently we’re in the Escape Lounge prior to the flight.
The house is within walking distance of departures. £22 for the 4 days. Excellent value

    • Where the heck is there a house walking distance to EMA? Castle Donnington? Ut surely that’s too far if you have any sort of luggage.

  3. I’ve not been able to determine cancellation conditions upfront in case we’ve had to cancel. I might have just missed those. Is there an easy way to check before booking?

  4. Very useful site. Have been using them for years since when they were called “Park at my house”. Some hosts even give you a lift (or small charge) to the airport. Excellent example of the sharing economy.

  5. Richmond_Surrey says:

I regularly use JustPark booking Premier Inn T5 and Marriott at Bath Road for T2-3. I never used any drivways at Heathrow, don’t trust it, locations are mostly poor, some require your keys even though they don’t mention it. Don’t want to leave my car on stranger’s driveway for 1-2 weeks at a time.

I used private drive in other part of London for parking during working hours. But I made sure it’s big enough and it was on daily basis anyway, so small risk.

  6. “There are also some hotels available.” That explains why you can never find a parking space at the hotel when you are staying there! Presumably they would rather sell the space rather than keep it available for guests.

  7. Very timely article. I’ve just come back from helping my son extend drive 5 minutes walk from Croydon station. He lets out each space for £130 a month and now has 3 spaces..

  8. We’ve been using these for years when they used to me called parkatmyhouse. Our guy collects the car from departures at LHR and returns it to us when we get back. We’re using him this month for 12 days and it’s costing £60

  9. Ben Ellins says:

Just rented a car parking space 10mins walk from Soton airport for 4 days @ £3 per day. Good feedback too. bargain

    • the real harry1 says:

I guess the main worry is leaving your keys with somebody uninsured to drive your car – and them damaging it

      • ANTHONY says:

You don’t leave your keys with them , I done a booking recently, did not even see the person who was renting his drive ..

I normally go to the airport by train

The 2 of us can go to to london return for £60 ..and that’s from Cornwall !

  10. worth shopping around.. Im paying £80 for a night at Thistle hotel + a week parking in March next year.
