Maximise your Avios, air miles and hotel points

Save £50 off Virgin Atlantic Upper Class and Premium Economy fares

Links on Head for Points may support the site by paying a commission.  See here for all partner links.

Virgin Atlantic is due to launch a flash sale at 9am today.

On the usual Virgin Atlantic website flights in Premium and Upper Class can be booked for £50 off. There is no special code needed.

Lead prices in Premium are:

Virgin Atlantic flash sale

London to Las Vegas from £668

London to New York from £632 (November)

London to Orlando from £777

Flights must be booked between 9am today and midnight tomorrow (Tuesday) for travel between 28th October and 11th December or 24th December and 29th March 2019.  Obviously £50 doesn’t move the needle much on Upper Class tickets but £50 off Premium is worth a look.

To maximise your miles when paying, your best bet is one of the two Virgin Atlantic Reward credit cards.  These earn double miles (3 per £1 on the paid card or 1.5 per £1 on the free card) when you book at virginatlantic.com or via Virgin Holidays.  Another option is American Express Preferred Rewards Gold which offers double points – 2 per £1 – when you book flight tickets directly with an airline.

  • Max says:

I booked LHR-DOH-HKG in the March Qatar sale and so far the DOH-HKG segment is on a non QSuite B773 (2-2-2 configuration).

    • Stoneman says:

Same here on the outlet but return is now flagging as a Q Suite. So not quite sure what to make of it?

  • jj says:

    787-8, not a 787-9

  • C77 says:

Perhaps replace the QR A380 First Class pic given the article relates to a Business Class offer on other aircraft types.

  • Matt B says:

OT – used the £5 off £20 Nandos Amex offer last night, and this morning have a 500 Avios on a £10 Deliveroo order on my BAPP. Not bad if its in your area.

    • Matt B says:

Also 500 MR on my wife’s platinum card.

    • Smithy says:

Man I missed the Nandos offer. I would have loved that.

Quick question – is there a limit to how many offers you can save? Like is there a penalty if you just went in and saved every offer every time just in case? I know that it isn’t great as it may stop others who would use it having it if it is limited (And I am not planning to do it) but I just wondered if anyone knew if it was actually not allowed.

    • RTS says:

Went Nandos last night…. sadly my BAPP or Plat didn’t have the Nandos offer.

      Got the deliveroo offer though.

  • John says:

There was a LHR (and LGW) to HKG QR sale a few weeks ago too, £1400 if you took BA to DOH (with potential substitution to QR)

  • benjamin barnett says:

what’s with the transfer by national express coach from Gatwick to Heathrow? is that really necessary??

    • Andrew says:

Only if you are transferring between Gatwick & Heathrow and you choose not to use any other option.

According to Google, you can cycle it in around 2h35m.

  • Dave says:

O/T – finally applied for the amex plat last night. My credit is great and already have the BAPP but I got the following message: “Unfortunately we are unable to give you a final decision today.

We just need to do a few extra checks before your application can be processed and we will let you know the final decision within the next 10 working days.”

Does anyone know what these checks they mention might be? Trying to work out if I’m likely to be successful.

Have never been refused credit before so am quite worried.

  • Waribai says:

Booked an October J flight LGW-DOH-PEN rtn for my mum for £1680 last week. Thought that was pretty good!
My mum bless her though having never flown QR is worried it won’t match up to BA 🙂

    • Polly says:

She will think she has died and gone to heaven when she sits in that plane. And wonder how she put up with ba all those years!

      • BJ says:

If the choice is direct versus Doha I would still take BA every timd without a second thought. Even though I don’t have that luxury from EDI, AF, AY, LH and KL are all still ahead of QR becsuse I can get a decent sleep.

        • Leo says:

I agree. Direct always wins for me. I’m not actually very keen on Qatar – although I know that puts me in a minority of one here. The QR lounge at LHR is a nice way to start though and it’s a good way to status if you are chasing it..

    • Mrs_Fussy says:

      Oh this made me smile
On our trip back from Mexico last week BA had no meal, no milk and couldnt serve me a second helping helping on jack daniel as they had run out of it. The food was insipid and our main courses were returned untouched, and of course the cabin crew had no courtesy to query why !
This was club world revenue seats booked months in advance with a “paid for ” seat for toddler
      Its shameful and pathetic.
The cabin crew said that only get 2 boxes of milk for the cabin and 6 bottle miniatures .. now difficult to blame them !!

    • Waribai says:

Had it been KUL then yes BA could have been a better option but there is no direct flight to PEN from the UK.
Take your point though about the flight times…

      • BJ says:

For your mums specific travels I would have prefered MH overnight but ultimately any one stop is good so I would probably have settled for whatever offered the best value.
