There is no British Airways Fast Track security at Nice Airport

Reader Justin sent me a photo of the Fast Track lane at Nice Terminal 1 which is a relatively new development over the last year or so.

As you can see, despite the heavy Club Europe loads on flights to Nice, the signs imply that British Airways has chosen not to pay the airport to let BA passengers use Fast Track.  A quick dig around online confirmed that this was the case.

Over the last year British Airways has been signing a few lounge access deals in airports where there was a lounge but they had previously refused to pay for it.  It would be good if this could be extended to Fast Track security access too.

OT- Trying to find 4 CW seats for a family of 4.
I get outbound to TYO but no inbound. I can get return (peak) to YTO.
Of course NYC is available, but most other leisure destination seems to be off the chart.

Is there any pattern for availability of reward seats? It seems for many leisure destination availability stops at next march and then nothing until July.
I am trying to be flexible for my destinations but there is no luck. I even tried OJ, so fly out to TYO and return fron HKG, KUL, BKK, SIN etc. but no luck!

    Any advise greatly appreciated

    • Genghis says:

Nothing from ICN? Usually tons of availability.

    • ChrisC says:

BA only committed to releasing 2 Club and 4 economy avios seats on every flight so it looks like you are hitting that block by searching for 4.

Yes they do sometimes release more but there is no guarantee they will or any sort of pattern if they do.

      • Raj says:

True, during Easter next year there are 8 J seats on one particular flight but only one way no return available with four seats!

    • BJ says:

Keep your eye on BKK, if sales are slow they sometimes release 6-8 CW at a time, even well inside T-355. The HKG a380 is also a good bet so keep watching that. You need to try and avoid Easter and for BKK also Songkran which is around 13 April. Having said that, if you can get seats Songkran is a fun time to visit Thailand.

    • Lewis King says:

4 seats at a time has been way less in F Since all the F redemptions disappeared for a few days a while ago. People on Flyertalk say that they pop up within 355 days so keep an eye out. Use something like baredemptionfinder to track it. For example our flights to DEL just released a few more.

    • Anna says:

Even if you don’t want to stay in NYC (though it makes a great short break), it’s a great hub for transferring to anywhere else in the USA, and also South America/Caribbean. Internal flights in the USA can be fairly reasonable if booked early, or you might be able to get reward seats with avios on AA (the taxes inside the US are about £4 pp!). If you book cash flights with AA or another OneWorld partner of course you will get avios as well.

    • pauldb says:

Quite a few 4x dates from PEK and PVG. PEK is a lower band to save you a few avios, and you can do 72hr transit-without-visa. Or Shanghai has Disney if you need a hook for the kids.

      • KevMc says:

I think you can now do 144 hours without a visa if transiting through…

        • MilesLi says:

144 hours applies to transiting to a 3rd country and ppl could visit Shanghai, Jiangsu Province, Zhejiang Province (for arriving at PVG) and Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei Province (for arriving at PEK). Available for 53 countries’ passport holders.

        • Callum says:

You can’t visit all of those on the same trip though – you can’t leave the local area of the city you land in.

    • KevMc says:

As they only guarantee 2 CW seats on each flight, you may wish to consider travelling in two pairs of 2. From places like HKG where BA have multiple flights per day, you should be able to get on 2 flights which leave/arrive only a short time apart from each other.

Another alternative might be to book 2 in CW and 2 in Premium or Economy and then set up an alert on BA Redemption Finder and hope that they release more CW seats at a later date…

Just signed up for M&M as staying in a Hilton now. The membership number sent to my email is different from the number displayed when I log in (both numbers work to log in though, and go to the same profile!) Both numbers start with 9 and are fifteen digits long…. did this happen to anyone else?

    • BJ says:

Enter the 15 digit service number st Hilton. If you are redeeming a 100% reward stay please post back if you get the 2500 miles.

    • Rob says:

This happens. You also get a new number each time your status changes! They all feed through to the same place though.

    • Pangolin says:

Did you change status in M&M? Your 15-digit FFP number changes when you go from Blue to Silver (FTL), for instance.

Be sure to use the number associated with your current status (log in to the main M&M site to check).

    Hi
What do we know about the Curve card waiting times?I have now been waiting for about six months and after one referral I am still about 200 people back of the queue.
Is it worth contacting Curve as done people seem to easily get in within a week!

    • John says:

That’s odd, my wife signed up in April and got the card in 2 weeks. The consumer one though

    • Olly says:

I got mine about 6 weeks ago and only took a matter of days to arrive. I would contact their CS, they’re very helpful.

      • Jonathan says:

Got mine in 3 days last week! (Personal debit card). I’d chase if I were you.

  • Mark says:

BA so far is also not paying for the newly opened fast track lane in Valencia as I discovered yesterday.

  • GabeS says:

    Hi
Any feedback on how long it usually takes to get a Curve card?
I have now been waiting for about six months and after one referral I am still about 200 at the back of the queue?
Is it worth contacting Curve as some people seem to get easily in within few days?

    • Bonglim says:

Mine took less than a week!
      Ordered about 2 weeks ago.

    • Crafty says:

Someone has blundered. Mine 2-3 months ago was near instant. Phone up.

  • Michael C says:

OT regarding hotel exchange rates: I’m looking at a Renaissance club room in S Paulo over Xmas. Prepaid is advertised as $230, then a note saying ” Please note – All prices are in USD. Charges are payable in local currency at applicable official tourism exchange rate at check-in” (whatever” tourism exchange rate” may be…).

If I pay upfront now for a non-refundable, it should just be the $230 and that’s the end of it, right?

    • Rob says:

Yes, if they charge your card now – they may wait.

      • Michael C says:

To wait for the reial to come back up again right, Rob, at the hotel’s discretion? Cheers!

        • John says:

I suspect they will charge you whatever $230 is in BRL at the time of charging – at that “tourist rate” but I didn’t think Brazil had parallel rates

        • Rob says:

          Yes …

  • Simon Catlin says:

Nice Aeroport has a Club Airport Premier Membership (logo looks like a Palm tree). If you join and load up you boarding passes (outbound only) or buy items in their shops, even book airport car parking, you get points or CAPS as they call them. If you get 1000 CAPS in a year, you do get privileges and one of those is Fast Track. So if you are frequent flyer through Nice it maybe worth considering

    Details are here: https://en.nice.aeroport.fr/Passengers/PASSENGER-INFO/Business-travellers/Club-Airport-Premier

  • Maria J says:

BA doesn’t pay for fast track in Alicante either.
