As part of Marriott’s latest MegaBonus promotion, it announced a ‘daily play’ competition called ’29 Ways To Stay’ with 2 MILLION prizes to be won. Whilst MegaBonus is already underway, the competition only started yesterday after some technical delays.
You can click to play here.
First, a quick reminder about MegaBonus which has now got better ….
The new MegaBonus offer is called ‘MegaBonus In More Places’. It runs from 26th September to 31st January.
You receive:
2,000 bonus points for every 2+ night stay plus
1,000 bonus points for each new brand, starting with your 2nd brand
Marriott has now added two extra bonuses to spice up the deal:
10,000 bonus points when you stay at 10 brands
29,000 bonus points when you stay at all 29 brands
The last one is surely a joke – awarding 290,000 points would have been more realistic. The geographical spread of the brands means that you’d need to do a world tour to hit them all. Protea is only in Africa for example.
Given that Marriott / Starwood now covers all of these brands – AC Hotels, Aloft, Autograph, Courtyard, Delta Hotels, Design Hotels, Edition, Element, Fairfield Inn, Four Points, Gaylord, Le Meridien, Marriott, Protea, Renaissance, Residence Inn, St Regis, Sheraton, The Luxury Collection, The Ritz-Carlton, Springhill Suites, Towneplace Suites, W, Westin – you won’t be struggling for places to stay.
Our main article on MegaBonus In More Places is here. You can register for the promotion here. Note that the home page has not yet been adjusted to reflect the new 10 brand and 29 brand bonuses.
But what about the competition?
The competition is called ’29 Ways To Stay’. Today (Friday) is Day 2 and it will run for 29 days in total.
Click here to enter. I won 50 points today!
You will be shown six playing cards to click. When you match a pair, you’ll be asked a question about the hotel pictured. Get all three right and you may get a prize.
Weirdly, it seems that you can only win ONE instant win prize irrespective of how many days you play.
Every entry goes into a final draw to win a fairly bonkers master prize – a 2-night stay at EVERY Marriott hotel brand. That means you get 29 x 2-night stays! You don’t get your travel costs paid. Whoever wins this will have some very interesting travel planning to do – luckily you have five years to use all the vouchers.
The other prizes are:
- 87 prizes of 4-night hotel stays (3 winners per brand, you don’t get to choose the brand you get)
- 75,000 DAILY prizes of 50 Marriott Rewards points
- 5,000 DAILY prizes of 500 Marriott Rewards points
- 2,500 DAILY prizes of 1,000 Marriott Rewards points
- 500 DAILY prizes of 2,000 Marriott Rewards points
- 250 DAILY prizes of 3,000 Marriott Rewards points
- 100 DAILY prizes of 4,000 Marriott Rewards points
- 75 DAILY prizes of 5,000 Marriott Rewards points
- 50 DAILY prizes of 10,000 Marriott Rewards points
- 16 DAILY prizes of 20,000 Marriott Rewards points
Marriott states that it expects you to have a 50/50 chance each day of winning a prize although most of us will only get 50 points.
The competition is open to residents of the United States (including the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico), Argentina (excluding Mendoza, Neuquén, Río Negro, Salta and Tierra del Fuego), Canada, Chile, China, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, France, Germany, India, Japan, South Korea, Mexico, Netherlands, Peru, South Africa and United Kingdom. That’s a slightly odd mix – I’m not sure what the Spanish or Irish did to upset Marriott.
Conclusion
I’d value 50 Marriott points at around 25p, so it is not necessarily a great use of your time. However, there is a chance that you get a better prize – statistically I would expect at least one HfP reader to win a hotel stay.
More importantly, the 50 points will reset the expiry date on your Marriott Rewards account. If you are overseeing any accounts with no recent activity it is worth playing for a couple of days until you win 50 points.
