IHG Rewards Club has launched a brand new promotion offering you the chance to earn lots of bonus points.

It is called ‘4x’ and you can register here.

I know what you’re thinking – IHG is already running an Autumn promotion.  The latest version of Accelerate gave everyone a set of personalised targets and until 31st December to achieve them.  You can read our full article on Accelerate here and register by clicking here.

It also doubles up with the current InterContinental bonus we wrote about here (and register here).  This gives you 3,000 bonus IHG Rewards Club points on up to five InterContinental cash stays before 30th November.

Get all three of these offers going at the same time and you’re in for some very generous earning indeed.

What is IHG’s new promotion about?

A lot of people were unexcited by their Accelerate targets this Autumn.  It is possible that IHG Rewards Club has already seen this flowing through to lower booking numbers, hence this new offer.

The new offer encourages you to compete four or more stays by 31st January:

Your first stay earns 1,000 bonus points

Your second stay earns DOUBLE base points

Your third stay earns TRIPLE base points

Your fourth stay and subsequent stays earn QUADRUPLE base points

Is there a catch?

A little one.  You need to register by 15th December and, more importantly, book by 15th December.

The link to register is here.

A bit of cunning thinking may be required ….

Because of the way the bonuses increase, it may be worth pushing more stays towards IHG if you know you will have an expensive stay coming up.

Let’s imagine that you have a stay coming up which you know will cost £1,000 excluding VAT.  At 10 base points per $1, you would be earning around 13,000 points (+ status bonuses) from that stay.

However, if you could slip in three other stays before that one, your £1,000 stay would earn quadruple base points – 52,000 points in total!

Register now

EVERYONE should register for ‘4x’ now – the link is here.

Because registration finishes six weeks before the end of the offer, you could be caught out in January if you haven’t already registered.  Do it now and get it out of the way.

Whether it is worth moving four stays to IHG will partly depend on your Accelerate targets too.  However, this is certainly a generous offer – especially if you can make those third and fourth stays into expensive ones.

For most people, it will beat Hilton’s double base points offer.

  • Dimitri says:

I wonder if that’s related to the very poor quarterly results that IHG released a few days ago.

  • dan says:

Will this 2x, 3x, 4x the accelerate bonuses including the completion bonus?

  • NICK says:

I’ve got loads of stays booked already for this period.. Do I really need to go back to cancel and rebook them all? The terms do not state that the reservation has to be made after the registration just the stay.. Also the headline suggests that you need to register and book before 15th December 2019 but it doesn’t say it has to be after registration.. Anybody got any thoughts on this please?

    • Rob says:

You’re fine, if they don’t say you need to rebook.

    • Kip says:

The T&C are usually explicit when existing bookings don’t count so I’m reading it as ok for existing bookings. 3rd party websites bookings don’t count though.

  • Ian M says:

IHG don’t let me register for their accelerate promotions anymore, I’ve not even bothered trying to register for this one! I’m Spire Ambassador, but have given up on IHG.

    • Lumma says:

I have the same problem, but I believe it’s more that they don’t show you your targets.

I made a stay recently and got an email saying that I’d achieved one and the email showed what the rest of my targets were.

  • Richard says:

    Do existing booking count?

  • Waribai says:

I’ve just registered for accelerate. So it seems the 18th October deadline has been waived….

  • Concerto says:

According to our records you have already registered for this offer.

How can this be if it is a new offer?

  • Sean says:

Do the bonus points count towards status?
