How to do a hotel mattress run – and what can go wrong

What is a hotel mattress run, and how do you do one? I thought I would take a look at the concept of ‘mattress runs’ today.  A ‘mattress run’ involves booking a hotel room without the intention of spending the night, purely for the purpose of triggering […]

Oddities: live at InterContinental Berlin, Microsoft Teams backgrounds, Avios and BST, who is C F Frost?

Some slightly odd news in brief: Move in to InterContinental Berlin! Hotels are having to be creative to generate revenue at the moment. A friend sent me this advertisement from Facebook, translated by Chrome hence the slightly broken English.  InterContinental Berlin is letting out its […]

Nooooo …. IHG has withdrawn the IHG Rewards Club Premium Mastercard, the UK’s best Visa / Mastercard credit card

Coronavirus: IHG Rewards Club scraps Advance Purchase prepaid rates – all hotel bookings can now be cancelled

Which good miles and points deals are ending today?

The Holiday Inn London Mayfair hotel has permanently closed

You certainly can’t file this one under hot news, because it took place immediately after New Year.  It happened totally under my radar, which is additionally embarrassing because I walk down Piccadilly on a regular basis and we often have HFP client meetings on Dover […]
