A quick search of HfP shows that we have never mentioned Albania over the last seven years.
The only time the word has ever been used was when we have done a cut and paste of T&Cs for various offers which listed the participating countries.
For no other reason, I thought we should break our duck today. German hotel group Maritim Hotels dropped me a note to say that it recently opened the first five-star hotel in Albania.
Albania’s first officially certified 5-star hotel is centrally located at the heart of the Albanian capital Tirana. The new Maritim Hotel Plaza Tirana is surrounded by tourist attractions, renowned museums, the National Theatre and a wide array of shopping facilities. It is also conveniently located close to Tirana International Airport.
The hotel includes 190 elegantly furnished rooms and suites over 23 floors, with several restaurants and a modern spa and fitness centre, as well as four meeting and conference rooms accommodating groups of all sizes.
You can find out more on the Maritim website here. However, as Maritim doesn’t have any loyalty programme to speak of, you are better off booking via this page of Hotels.com and picking up a Hotels.com Rewards credit instead.
PS. Tirana is worth 160 British Airways Executive Club tier points in Club Europe if you fancy a weekend break whilst also helping yourself retain status.
