    Presumably you can still cancel up to 24 hours before travel, unless the Ts & Cs have changed in the past few days.

    No. Avios bookings have flexibility to cancel but they’re not exactly flexible.

  OT:
  My BA club flights from LHR to Helsinki at the start of May were just cancelled (RIP tier points). I had booked separate economy domestic tickets from NCL to LHR with BA – is there any reasonable way to claim the domestic flights as a refund from BA? They are on a separate PNR to the Club flights.

  I’m guessing that BA probably won’t pay out. I would be happy to have a voucher for these but will claim a cash refund for the Club flights. I guess I could try claiming the separate domestic flights from travel insurance…

    Correct BA wont refund as the flights are on separate bookings.

    You could try your insurance but why don’t you just wait until closer to the time to claim.the voucher? You can claim a voucher up to 1 hour before the flight.

    In the meantime BA could very well cancel the flights if we are all forced to go into lockdown in which case you could get a refund (assuming the hack hasn’t been “fixed” by BA).

  Does anyone know if there are any relaxation on hotels booked with avios?

  We have 2 hotel stays for Europe in May that are non refundable avios bookings. Is there a chance these may be relaxed to be transferrable?

    No sign so far. However Avios Hotels is Expedia-run so if Expedia start letting you cancel then Avios may well do so too.

      Received an unprompted email from Hotels.com (Expedia owned) offered a full refund to credit card of a non-refundable booking made in January so something may be happening

  I have return EDI – Cape Town via LHR flights in First Class booked with Avios and 2-4-1 voucher departing April 16, returning May 4 (land 5). I’ve held off cancelling in case BA cancels and I can save the £70 admin charge.Both flights are still showing in My Bookings as Confirmed on a Boeing 747 jet. I saw something about a JavaScript workaround but it’s too complicated for me. I’m not priority to call into Exec Club. Is the advice still to hold on and wait for BA to cancel.

    Yes. You’ve a right to cancel until 24 hours before the first flight. Unless you’re worried about BA running out of cash and you not getting your “taxes” back?

      No, though I definitely want the cash and not a voucher! If it’s left until 48-24 hours before, I will also only have about 5 weeks to “spend” the refunded taxes before my deadline to trigger the next 2-4-1 voucher – which isn’t easy at the moment. Thanks, will leave it till nearer the time and keep checking My Bookings.

  obvs the right to fly/ travel over borders is an inalienable right for some people, are you going to say people can’t take the bus to the supermarket or a taxi or drive in their car next? it’s not much different

    I travel a lot too.

    But in this situation if we had a government who had realised things will be easier if nobody in UK gets infected by community transmission then it’s logical to think we might have been ok as we are an island.

    As far as I know and I may be wrong, the virus can’t swim and the distance between UK and France would have been sufficient.

    People start talking about rights and freedom but having a worse situation gives everyone less rights/freedoms. Uncertainty leads to fear.

    But I’m not an expert. I’m just saying we might have at least had the freedom to go to parks etc without fear if it had been contained to start with.

      Presumably you hovered a couple of inches above the seat throughout the flight with your accumulated knowledge whilst keeping all cabin crew and airport staff 2 metres away from you. I presume you wore gloves too when handling your suitcases so no-one handling your baggage could pick up any germs? Didn’t think so. Doesn’t matter how you dress it up, you ran away like a coward and have no way of knowing if you infected anyone else or not.
