There is nothing like simplicity when designing a loyalty scheme, and the free breakfast benefit for Titanium Elite or Platnium Elite members of Marriott Bonvoy is nothing like simple!

I put together a guide to what breakfast benefits you will get at each of the Marriott and Starwood brands if you have Platinum or Titanium status.  The information for the table below is taken from the scheme Terms & Conditions which can be found here.  Hopefully I have interpreted it all correctly.

Even if you don’t have Platinum status or higher in Marriott Bonvoy, it is worth looking at the table below to marvel at the complexity of what Marriott has created.  The good news is that members are better off than they were before the Marriott and Starwood programmes merged with breakfast benefits extended to more brands.

Here is the lounge breakfast at Berlin Marriott (reviewed here) although whether it looks like this post-coronavirus is a different question.

Note that restaurant breakfast is restricted to two people per room.  We discovered this in Venice when we had to pay for our two children at the JW Marriott, which is treated as a resort, although they were only charged at 50% of the adult rate.  Given how much they eat it was probably a good deal!

  1. Secret Squirrel says:

I only have Marriott Gold, do they status match anyone to Platinum?

  2. Some hotels are more generous than this, read the flyertalk thread for the hotel to check.

    I agree with Rob it’s ridiculous…

    • Like with a lot of the chains I think it depend where you are. In South Africa and Asia I’ve been given free breakfast (and good upgrades) yet only Gold. In Europe and America I don’t expect much and don’t get a lot (a late check out is useful though).

    • Lottie says:

Yes we got free breakfast in a luxury collection hotel in Peru and we are are only gold from Amex.

  3. Erico1875 says:

A few months ago, Marriott Glasgow airport, the breakfast rate was only £1 more than the room only rate my son had booked us. Nice guy at reception threw it in for free.

  4. As far as I know the $10 credit is per night and not per stay

    • riku2 says:

rob has “simplified” the terms and conditions of bonvoy and has lost the difference between a welcome gift which is “per stay” and a welcome gift which is “per night”.

  5. Andrew says:

What level is free with Amex Platinum – I know it used to be SPG Gold but not sure what it is now it’s under Marriott.

  6. At Courtyard Brussels (Evere) breakfast was free if you paid by Visa, regardless of rewards status. A vast spread, though background music cunningly chosen to discourage lingering.

  7. Mark M says:

I bet my bike would have cost rather more if it was made from Platinum, not Titanium!
But I expect they couldn’t think of any more – ‘Iron’ or ‘Lead’ status would be worse…

  8. AC Manchester City refused to give the credit, tbf their service is pretty poor in general, so no surprises
