Back in November we covered the launch, into testing, of the new Stansted Express trains.

Coronavirus delayed this process, but the first two new trains finally entered passenger service last week.

The new Stansted Express trains, built by Swiss company Stadler, are longer at 12 walk-through carriages.  They have low floor boarding, free WiFi, power and USB sockets:

The only downside is that these new trains have no First Class.

The full story is on the Greater Anglia website.  The full fleet will be swapped over within the next six to nine months.

Probably not much demand for first class. It was only the same carriage with a sticker last time I took it. Are there any first class or business class from Stansted?

    • Rob says:

Emirates runs its most impressive First Class product ONLY from Stansted. You can’t get it from Heathrow or Gatwick.
