World of Hyatt has launched its spring promotion, which is called ‘Bonus Journeys’. This was also the name for the Winter promotion, although the two are structured differently.

Here are the terms in a nutshell:

• the promotion runs from 1st March to 15th June

• registration closes early (boo!) on 15th May and can be done here

• you receive 2,000 bonus points for every two nights you stay

• nights do not need to be consecutive

• you receive a voucher, valid for 180 days, for a free night in a Category 1-4 hotel if you complete 10 nights during the promotion

• M life and Small Luxury Hotels nights will count

• reward nights will count

I value a World of Hyatt at 1.1p. This is a firm valuation, because Hyatt will give you that in cash if you choose to redeem 65,000 points for $1,000 of hotel credit to spend on food, drink or spa treatments. It is also easy enough to achieve this on a room redemption.

On this basis, you are getting £11 per night back as a bonus. This isn’t much of a return if you’re spend £300 at a top Park Hyatt, but if you find yourself at the Hyatt Place in Hayes as a dirt cheap Heathrow option, you will do OK.

I won’t focus on the Category 1-4 free night voucher because I doubt many UK-based readers will be in a position to hit 10 nights by 15th June. Hyatt has seven categories, so a Category 1-4 certificate doesn’t get you too high up the scale. You would usually need 15,000 points for one night in a Category 4 hotel but you can’t value the certificate that highly because of its short life span.
