It’s back: earn Virgin Points in-store at Morrisons supermarkets

Links on Head for Points may pay us an affiliate commission. A list of partners is here.

Virgin Flying Club has brought back its partnership with Morrisons supermarkets.

You will earn points in Virgin Flying Club for every £1 you spend in-store at Morrisons.

Full details are here.

You need to log in to see how many Virgin Points you will earn.  The earning rate varies from person to person.

For purchases under £30, you earn a flat 0.5 Virgin Points per £1

For £30+, you need to log in to your Virgin Flying Club account and check.  Until 31st March I am earning 8 Virgin Points per £1.  See here (click to enlarge):

This is very generous.  It doesn’t go beyond 8 points per £1.  Some people seem to have been offered less.

You may find that you see a blank where the points number should be.  If you use the ‘Virgin Points calculator’ tool on that page, however, it will show you how many points you earn for a certain level of spend.

In theory, you cannot earn on:

“Cash Back, Tobacco, Fireworks, Saver Stamps, Postage Stamps, Gift Vouchers, Gift Cards, Infant formula/milk, Lottery Online Game, Instant Tickets, ‘Top-up’ Mobile Phone Cards, E Top-up, Photo Printing, Prescription Medicines or on transactions made within the Café, Dry Cleaning, Petrol Stations, Garden Centres and Pharmacy or outside of the UK.”

However, since gift card purchases are processed at standard tills, you may get the points.

This offer will double up with the current ‘10% back on a £30+ Morrisons’ spend cashback offer currently showing on many American Express cards.  This offer runs to 7th April but has already hit its registration cap, so if you haven’t already opted in it is now too late.

If you value a Virgin Point at 1p, you are getting a whopping 18% back on your Morrisons spend by combining both offers.

If you don’t collect Virgin Points …..

This offer is part of the Virgin Atlantic in-store shopping scheme.  To sign up, you need to register your credit and debit cards via the link above.   Make sure you register your partners cards as well if they are also likely to visit Morrisons.

If you don’t already have a Virgin Flying Club account, you may want to sign up purely to take advantage of this dealThe launch of the Virgin Red app has brought a lot of smaller redemptions into the programme, including food and drink from Greggs from 200 points.

PS.  I also have a generous offer of 8 Virgin Points per £1 spent on taxis booked via the Gett app.  This is only valid when paying with a Visa or Mastercard.  You are at the mercy of Gett’s ‘technology charges’ and minimum fares however so you may want to stick with driver-owned products such as TaxiApp.

Does this work with Airtime Rewards which currently has 10% on £30+ spends

  • BrianKL says:

Is it just the long card number you register? So not the expiry date or anything like that? Thanks

  • James. says:

No active offer for me 🙁

  • Michael michaels says:

I have 72k miles. I can’t see a time when I could feel safe to travel. Age and health is also a concern. I rather spend in uk or sell back.

  • signol says:

This week Morrisons announced the cancellation of their own More Points scheme. This could be a vague replacement…

  • Tom says:

Why is my question just keep getting moderated and then not posted? Ridiculous.

    • Tom says:

Lets try again. Would all these offers combine – airtime, VM money and the VFC offer in this article?

      • Reney says:

VM money as in virgin credit card Cb? if so VM and Airtime stacks.

        • Tom says:

Thanks, yeah the CC CB – think you can’t say that word which is why I kept getting moderated! Thanks for confirming!

  • Jonathan says:

Anyone know if this works with online spend either delivery or click and collect or is it just in store spend?
