Good Marriott Bonvoy hotel offer if you are renting a car with Hertz
Links on Head for Points may support the site by paying a commission. See here for all partner links.
As Hertz is not a British Airways Avios partner, you need to find an alternative home for the rewards you earn on your Hertz car rentals.
Our preferred deal is with Virgin Flying Club, where you can earn 1,000 Virgin Points on most Hertz rentals. Full details are on the Virgin Atlantic website here.
If you are not a Virgin Points collector, our 2nd best Hertz offer has been a little known partnership between Hertz and IHG Rewards – the Holiday Inn, Crowne Plaza, InterContinental etc hotel scheme.

Full details are on the IHG website here but in summary:
You will earn 1,500 IHG Rewards points per rental
plus
125 IHG Rewards points per day for non-status members, or
500 IHG Rewards points per day for elite members
This is pretty generous, especially for Gold, Platinum or Spire Elite members who are guaranteed at least 2,000 points per rental.
Let’s assume that you value IHG points at 0.4p each, as I do. A 2-day rental for a status member would earn you 2,500 points which is £10 of value. A week-long rental would get you 5,000 points valued at £20.
Perhaps more importantly, it seems that this is one of the few partner earning opportunities which still count towards earning IHG Rewards status.

Marriott Bonvoy has now launched a good Hertz deal
Until 31st December 2021 – so this is not a permanent deal – Marriott Bonvoy is offering additional points on Hertz rentals. Details are here.
You will earn:
2,000 Bonvoy points for rentals of 2+ days
500 Bonvoy points for rentals of 1 day
This applies to rentals in the United States, Canada, Europe, Mexico, Puerto Rico, Australia, and New Zealand.
I value Marriott Bonvoy points at 0.5p although it is possible to do substantially better. This means that you will receive £10-worth of points for a 2+ day Hertz rental.
Whilst this sounds like an odd thing to say, I value £10 of Marriott Bonvoy points more highly than £10 of Virgin Points or £10 of IHG Rewards points. This is because I believe your chances of beating my standard valuation (0.5p per Marriott point, 0.4p per IHG point and 1p per Virgin Point) are higher with Marriott Bonvoy.
For longer rentals, however, the IHG Rewards deal beats both Marriott Bonvoy and Virgin Atlantic if you have IHG Rewards status. 5,000 IHG Rewards points for a 7-day rental is very good, especially as they still count towards IHG status as far as I know.
You can book the Marriott Bonvoy / Hertz deal on this page of the Marriott website.
