News in brief:

Conrad Miami hotel leaves Hilton

If you are planning a trip to Miami and were looking to earn or redeem Hilton Honors points at the luxury Conrad Miami, you will need to rethink.

The hotel left Hilton a couple of weeks ago following its sale. It has become the first hotel under a new brand, aka, which is creating a chain of properties with larger than average rooms for the medium and long stay market.

Whilst never well regarded as a Conrad, the hotel had seen a renovation of its rooms and public areas recently and featured a rooftop lap pool.

Marriott Bonvoy F1 event

Join a virtual tour of the Mercedes F1 HQ for 500 Bonvoy points

Whilst covid restrictions are still stopping Marriott Bonvoy from offering their in-person tours of the Mercedes-AMG Petronas team headquarters in Brackley, it has put together a virtual event.

For a nominal 500 Marriott Bonvoy points – which we’d value at just £2.50 – you can be one of 75 people attending a live virtual tour of the centre. This may be especially interesting for anyone outside the South East who couldn’t travel to the earlier in-person events.

Here is the official description:

Get close and personal with the Mercedes-AMG Petronas Formula 1 Team. Join the team for an exclusive Virtual Factory Tour, broadcast live from the Team Headquarters in Brackley, UK. You will receive behind-the-scenes insight into what goes into designing, manufacturing and running the world’s most advanced racing cars. Live Q&As with key Team members will give you unique insight into the team’s race preparations.

Exclusive access to a Mercedes-AMG Petronas F1 Team Virtual Factory Tour on Tuesday 23rd November from 4.00 to 5.30pm BST

500 Marriott Bonvoy points gets you a ‘one use’ code to join the live stream.

You can redeem on the Bonvoy website here. There were originally 75, I think, with 50 remaining as of last night.

I am trying to secure virgin reward flights to cpt in April. Can’t see any availability. Have virgin confirmed their schedule? I’m shocked they are only flying until March?

    • Jonathan says:

There probably won’t be any redemption availability even when “summer” schedule confirmed. Cape Town is generally one of the toughest routes to use points on & April is the tail end of the holiday season there.

Virgin redemption availability in general is also pretty dire at the moment. They don’t guarantee a minimum number of seats on each flight like BA do so seem to have withdrawn all Premium/Upper seats except a handful to NYC whilst they try & cash in on any pent up demand. Hopefully things will improve if the surge in bookings doesn’t materialise.

  • Nick says:

Never well regarded? Interesting… the Conrad Miami was one of my favourite hotels anywhere in the world. Maybe I was lucky but I always got treated incredibly well there. Hadn’t realised it had been sold, it’s actually quite sad news.

    • Oh! Matron! says:

Came here to say this: The lounge, for diamonds, was actually a wine, cheese and meats event. And if you’d ever seen their wine room… well!

  • Oldman7 says:

thx for highlighting the Mercedes tour. 21 left when I grabbed one earlier today.

  • Hostime says:

Good riddance to the Conrad Miami… it was a dreadful property with the most obnoxious staff. Pleased Hilton kicked it out.

  • Babyg says:

me thinks it will be at least a 50% HFP zoom party for the Merc virtual tour….

  • Paul says:

£75 off upper class fare……is that even a sale.

  • Andi Hawes says:

Slightly off topic but where do i see a 241 vouvcher if i have one?
