IHG to open a luxury Six Senses beach resort in Dubai in 2024

Links on Head for Points may support the site by paying a commission.  See here for all partner links.

We normally don’t bother running press releases about hotel openings which are due 2-3 years down the track, partly because the project is often cancelled and partly because the news isn’t much use until you can actually book.

I’ve made an exception here because the lack of beach resorts in Dubai in the IHG Rewards portfolio is a bugbear for many readers. The situation will ease when voco The Palm Dubai (website here) opens in July 2022, although this property appears to be part of a mixed retail / leisure complex.

For those looking for luxury, however, you will need to wait until 2024. IHG has just announced Six Senses The Palm Dubai.

Six Senses The Palm Dubai

This is going to be an odd project. It contains a small 60-room hotel alongside 162 branded villas and apartments. It’s clear that the hotel aspect is really just there to service the residential side and to allow it to charge a premium to the normal Dubai market.

That said, with a promised 60,000 square feet of amenities, it may be that you end up with a boutique hotel with exceptional facilities and a little used private beach. The promised spa and recreation facilities do sound impressive.

There’s nothing you can do with this news today, but it’s a project we’ll be keeping an eye on over the next couple of years. An image of the project is above.

  • Peter says:

Just 500 points for 2 purchases over £5, so the offer appears to be targeted rather than general.

  • Phil says:

    I have spend £5 twice for 1000 points. 3 times for 1500 and 5 times for 2000.

I just wanted to drop you and the HfP team a note of thanks. Back in December I saw your update on the IAG Loyalty Avios giveaway for staff and managed to enter just before the deadline.

This morning I received an email confirming I would receive 60,000 avios – amazing! As a very exhausted medical registrar, this is the nicest thing to happen for me in a long time and very much appreciated. Thank you so much for the part you played in this, as I definitely wouldn’t have known about the prize draw without this website.

Why is it that there are always at least 100 things I need from ebay, until a promo like this comes along and I can’t think of a single thing to buy from eBay?! Every flippin time!!

    • Liz says:

I never buy on ebay – only sell – but I just bought some batteries!

    • Lady London says:

Could be worse. You could have logged in to ebay, like me, and seen no offer.

  • Russ says:

Thanks Rob. Singapore Airline’s new route is most welcome. An easy way to gain Kris Flyer miles and travel on a wide body down to Spain and warmer weather. Olé!

  • Alex W says:

No eBay offer on any of our 3 accounts.

Nectar are so bad at giving points when they have been earned. I have to send in a query every single time and granted they do usually give me the points but it is a pain having to remember to check and then to query. I asked for it to be raised as a complaint last time I queried but they said it wouldn’t happen again!!! In my dreams……….
