IHG to open a luxury Six Senses beach resort in Dubai in 2024

Links on Head for Points may support the site by paying a commission.  See here for all partner links.

We normally don’t bother running press releases about hotel openings which are due 2-3 years down the track, partly because the project is often cancelled and partly because the news isn’t much use until you can actually book.

I’ve made an exception here because the lack of beach resorts in Dubai in the IHG Rewards portfolio is a bugbear for many readers. The situation will ease when voco The Palm Dubai (website here) opens in July 2022, although this property appears to be part of a mixed retail / leisure complex.

For those looking for luxury, however, you will need to wait until 2024. IHG has just announced Six Senses The Palm Dubai.

Six Senses The Palm Dubai

This is going to be an odd project. It contains a small 60-room hotel alongside 162 branded villas and apartments. It’s clear that the hotel aspect is really just there to service the residential side and to allow it to charge a premium to the normal Dubai market.

That said, with a promised 60,000 square feet of amenities, it may be that you end up with a boutique hotel with exceptional facilities and a little used private beach. The promised spa and recreation facilities do sound impressive.

There’s nothing you can do with this news today, but it’s a project we’ll be keeping an eye on over the next couple of years. An image of the project is above.

    Hi All,
Looking for suggestions please for family holiday with 5 person room acceptance (2 adults and 3 young kids).
Have 90k BA points (also 2for1 voucher with BA) with also 90k with Amex points to put towards trip. Don’t mind where but during August or December when kids off school. Thanks

    • Nigel says:

Depends what sort of holiday you want but we have booked a family of 5 trip to Canada in July, got economy peak going out (day flight) and business off peak return (night) which cost just under 140,000 avios plus 2 amex 2 for 1s, then we paid cash for the fifth ticket. And also meant no extra taxes on the way out. This was into Montreal, out of Toronto, and we’re visiting all the key Eastern cities/sights over a two week period and have a week in a mountain villa. I can help with hotels that sleep 5 if that would be useful. I’d recommend Boston as a similar option in USA, or West coast USA has dry weather that time of year. For December, Kenya or South Africa will cost you a similar amount of avios but might be tough to find flights.

      • Shamrock says:

Thanks Nigel, much appreciate the reply and ideas. Wasn’t thinking Canada / USA as thought Avios would be higher. Some time on the PC ahead.

Be aware, on those short EU flights, SQ’s C service makes Club Europe look like EK F. A dry sarnie and a biscuit

  • TimM says:

No, my best eBay offer is, again, “Pick up 1 point per £1”

  • ADS says:

The 1,000 nectar points offer is showing for me – but when I click through to the Ebay website I don’t get an option to Activate the offer

    • Rob says:

Everyone gets that, I assume it triggers it. This ISN’T an official eBay offer – you don’t get the points with the purchase, Nectar adds them itself later (‘within 28 days’).

  • DevonDiamond says:

As I said on the nectar post the other day, I frequently do this. Clicking through to e at on the nector app is all you need to do.

I’ve got a long list of books I want to buy, and I just search till I find one at £5.23 or similar. As Rob says it’s virtually free given 1000 points = £5 in Sainsbury’s.

Good to see some decent bits posts. I’ve not taken to the forum, too time consuming for me as I preferred the chat thread – still you can’t please everyone!

    • DI says:

Same here, the chat thread was much easier to just jump in for two minutes.

      • Mart says:

Barely use hfp anymore – seems comments sections regularly looking dry and empty. Shame!

        • Rob says:

We are not running the site for the benefit of the 100 people who used the old chat thread. The forum did 12,000 page views yesterday which was at the top end of what the chat thread ever did, and we’re talking about a quiet Saturday.

  • Prince Charles says:

I’ve ordered a brand new Tenet blu-ray for £5.49. I’ve heard very mixed reviews about the film but its a cheap and easy way to earn 1,000 Nectar points. Get in!

    • Andy says:

“Heard” is an interesting choice of words here, as the sound on that film can be quite difficult to hear and understand.
