With self catering holidays set for another good year, Homes & Villas by Marriott International has launched a new bonus points promotion.

This one, oddly, gets you double Bonvoy points plus a free Marriott Bonvoy hotel night for booking a home rental!

You need to book a home rental by 22nd June via the Homes & Villas by Marriott International website here. Your stay must be for a minimum of five nights.

The standard Bonvoy earning rate with Homes & Villas is 5 points per $1. Under this offer, you will earn 10 points per $1. There is also a Marriott Bonvoy elite bonus on top for Silver members and above.

More interestingly, you will receive a voucher for a free night at a Marriott Bonvoy hotel worth up to 35,000 points. This would get you a room valued at up to, roughly, £175. You can top up the voucher with a maximum of 15,000 points from your Bonvoy account, letting you book a room worth up to, roughly, £250.

(I am doing this in Paris next week using a 25,000 point free night voucher from the Marriott Bonvoy American Express card. You won’t get a room in Paris for 25,000 points but, with a 14,000 point top-up, I was able to get a Le Meridien for a night.)

This offer stacks with £150 of American Express cashback

Even better, this offer will stack with the current American Express cashback deal.

If targeted, you will receive £150 cashback when you spend £500+ on the Homes & Villas website by 30th November. You need to check the ‘Offers’ section of your American Express account to see if you are targeted and click ‘Save to Card’ to register – make sure you use this card when booking.

Marriott has recently reduced the minimum stay from three nights to two nights at the majority of its Homes & Villas properties. It has also added a lot of cheaper properties in places you wouldn’t necessarily expect – I found a £63 per night apartment in Bolton for example.

You could get a good deal here. Book a five night stay at a £100 property for £500, trigger the £150 American Express cashback, trigger the 35,000 point Bonvoy free night voucher – worth around £175 – and earn double Bonvoy points too.

You’d also earn five elite nights towards Marriott Bonvoy status from the stay, which may make this offer a decent mattress run.

You can find out more on the Homes & Villas website here.
