You only have a few days left to take advantage of a very generous United Airlines offer with American Express – £250 cashback when you spend £500 with United Airlines.

The rules say that you need to book a flight by 15th July – so time is tight – which is departing from the UK. I am guessing that non-UK departures may divert you a different version of the United website which is why this rule is in place.

Remember that you can earn Avios on United Airlines flights when you credit them to an Aer Lingus AerClub account. You can then use the ‘Combine My Avios’ functionality online to move them to your British Airways Executive Club account. You will not earn any tier points, however.

£500 should be enough to get you an economy flight to the US this Summer – albeit in ‘Basic Economy’ which is frill-free – and £250 would represent a chunky saving.

There’s more though!

Until 31st July, as part of its London Pride sponsorship, you can save £50 off all United flights from London to the United States.

You must use promo code FLYWITHPRIDE and travel between 15th August and 15th November.

You will find a “Promotions and certificates” box for the code under the ‘Advanced Search’ options on the United website.

You would need to book a flight costing £550 to combine these offers, since there needs to be at least £500 remaining to charge to your Amex card to trigger the cashback.

As usual, you need to check the ‘Offers’ section on the Amex website or in the app for each American Express card you own, and then click ‘Save To Card’ to register if you can see the deal. Only 10,000 registrations will be allowed.
