In February we wrote about a new Hyatt hotel opening on the Greek island of Santorini.

The hotel has now opened as part of The Unbound Collection, a collection of independent luxury hotels operating under the Hyatt banner.

Magma has just 59 guest rooms, including 24 suites. 46 rooms have private pools or hot tubs, and all have unobstructed views of the Aegean Sea and Anafi Island.

Hyatt Magma Resort Santorini opens

Here is how Hyatt describes it:

A secluded sanctuary nestled amid the hilltops of Vourvoulos, Magma Resort Santorini offers a serene Santorini experience with unforgettable views. Striking contemporary design complements the hotel’s breathtaking surroundings of lava sand beaches, sweeping vineyards and the endless blue of the Aegean Sea. A commitment to holistic and spiritual wellness is realized through a subterranean Lava Spa and elite gastronomic experience led by chef Arnaud Bignon of the two-Michelin-starred restaurant, Spondi Athens. Stylish features including a stunning sun terrace and infinity pool offer mesmerizing panoramas of the island’s dramatic coastline, elevating the hotel’s unique atmosphere of relaxed luxury.

The resort website is here. Redemptions are available from 35,000 points per night, which is acceptable value given the opening cash rates of around €450.

It looks as it rates will be around €600 per night in peak season going forward meaning that World of Hyatt points will offer good value.
