If you haven’t stocked up on wine yet for Christmas, Virgin Wines has launched a very generous offer for anyone with 12,500 Virgin Points to spare.

You can order a Virgin Wines advent calendar, containing a mini bottle of wine PER DAY and a full bottle for Christmas Day itself, for just 12,500 Virgin Points including delivery.

There are three different advent calendars on offer:

Mixed Wine Advent Calendar – 12,500 Virgin Points

  • 24 x 187ml bottles of red, white and rosé wine
  • 1 x Beneficio Winemakers Selection McLaren Vale Grenache Shiraz 2019

Red Wine Advent Calendar – 12,500 Virgin Points

  • 24 x 187ml bottles of red wine
  • 1 x Beneficio Winemakers Selection McLaren Vale Grenache Shiraz 2019

White Wine Advent Calendar – 12,500 Virgin Points

  • 23 x 187ml bottles of white wine
  • 1 x 20cl Woolundry Road Sparkling Chardonnay Pinot Noir 20cl
  • 1 x 75cl The Black Pig Prize Chardonnay

These advent calendars cost £98 including delivery if you pay cash (you can buy here for cash if you don’t have 12,500 Virgin Points) which means that you are getting 0.8p per Virgin Point. This is substantially better than the 0.5p you get from most Virgin Red redemptions and close to what you would receive for a flight reward.

To order, you need to register with Virgin Red (you get 500 points for doing so if you follow the instructions in this article), link your account to your Virgin Flying Club account and then order via the app or the website here.

Standard delivery is within three working days for orders placed by 4pm.

You can find out more about what’s in each case via the Virgin Wines website here but you need to buy via Virgin Red if you are using points.

PS. If you are concerned about the amount of excess packaging that seems to come with advent calendars, Virgin Wines claims that it has reduced the amount by 30% this year making it their ‘most sustainable’ calendar yet.

Anyone had their advent calendars delivered yet?

    • The Original Nick. says:

Nope. So I’ve cancelled it via the chat thread. All seems to be very unorganised

  • cinereus says:

Now this is farcical. You get 6 bottles worth of wine for 12,500 points (worth at least £62.50) and you claim it’s good value as you credulous enough to believe in the £98 RRP.

    • Rob says:

You know the price of everything and the value of nothing.

It’s designed as a fun Christmas experience, a chance to have a small taste of a different wine every day in the run up to Christmas.
