Last month we covered an offer that American Express has launched with the WorldHotels consortium.
If you haven’t heard of WorldHotels, it is a marketing group – rather like Preferred Hotels or Leading Hotels of the World – which lets hotels remain fully independent but share a common marketing platform.
Assuming that your American Express card is targetted and that you register, you will receive £100 cashback when you spend £250 at a participating WorldHotels property.
This represents a 40% saving if you spend exactly £250 which isn’t to be sniffed at. The offer ends on 31st July.
There are participating hotels across Europe but the UK ones are:
- Courthouse Hotel, London (Shoreditch)
- Courthouse Hotel, London (Great Marlborough Street)
- The Washington Mayfair Hotel, London (Curzon Street)
- The Caesar Hotel, London (Queen’s Gardens W2)
- Royal Garden Hotel, London (Kensington High Street)
- The Crown, London (Cricklewood Broadway)
- The Riverside, Salisbury
- Ambleside Salutation Hotel, Ambleside
- Woughton House Hotel, Milton Keynes
- Bruntsfield Hotel, Edinburgh
- Ten Hill Place, Edinburgh
- Kingsmills Hotel, Inverness
- Gleddoch Golf & Spa Resort, Langbank
WorldHotels is a Virgin Flying Club partner. You will earn 500 Virgin Points per stay as you can see here. There are other airline partners too (Flying Blue and Miles & More are likely to be of most interest) but not Avios / British Airways.
Earn triple points too
However, perhaps more interestingly, WorldHotels has now launched a triple points promotion.
As you can see here on their website, WorldHotels is offering triple points on stays between now and 4th September.
This means that you will earn 30 points per $1 (80p) spent instead of the usual 10 points. If you have Diamond status in WorldHotels Rewards – and you can status match from any other major hotel programme – this would increase to 33 points per $1.
The most common route of spending WorldHotels Rewards points is by redeeming for Best Western or WorldHotels room nights.
However, there are also a range of digital gift cards. 20,000 WorldHotels Rewards points gets you a £50 gift card for Amazon amongst others. Even with no WorldHotels Rewards status bonus, you’d only need £540 of pre-tax spend during ‘triple points’ to get 20,000 points for a £50 gift card.
Throw in the Amex cashback, worth £100 back on £250 spend – and of course you could split your ‘pay on departure’ bill across multiple Amex cards – and the deal looks even better.
You can learn more about the WorldHotels Rewards triple points offer on its website here. Registration is required.
