This month marks 25 years of Heathrow Express services since its introduction in June 1998.

Whilst it can’t send you a piece of birthday cake to celebrate, it is doing the next best thing.

It is offering bonus Heathrow Rewards points to anyone who books a fully flexible Heathrow Express train ticket over the next four days, for immediate or future travel. In percentage terms, it is a whopping 2500% increase!

Heathrow Express 25th anniversary bonus Heathrow Rewards points

Get 25 Heathrow Rewards points per £1 with Heathrow Express

Normally, you receive 1 Heathrow Rewards point for every £1 you spend with Heathrow Express.

Until Monday evening, however, Heathrow Express is increasing this to a whopping 25 points per £1.

25 Heathrow Rewards points is the equivalent of, when transferred:

  • 25p of Heathrow shopping vouchers (so you’re getting an effective 25% return on your spending)
  • 25 Avios, Virgin Points or other airline partner miles
  • 50p of Official Heathrow Parking vouchers

The promotion is running for four days this weekend. It started just after midnight today, Friday, and ends at 11:59pm on Monday evening.

You do not need to travel during the offer period. You can travel anytime, up to 12 months in advance, which is how far Heathrow Express’ booking window extends.

Note that only certain ticket types are included in the offer – and only those bought online or in the app. You will not receive the bonus points if you use an in-station ticket machine or tap in and out with your Oyster or contactless card.

The following tickets are included:

  • Anytime Single Express Class ticket
  • Anytime Single in Business First Class ticket
  • Anytime Return in in Express Class ticket
  • Anytime Return in Business First Class ticket

Unfortunately, the bulk-discount carnet packages, with 12 single journeys, are not included.

You can see the full terms and conditions here.

You can book on the Heathrow Express website here.

  • Mohamed says:

Even 100 pts/£ not using this ripp off train, wonder how many travellers they lost since Lizzy start operating, just by watching the amount of passengers who keep waiting when HExpress arrive on platform gives an idea.

    • ClubSmed says:

At 100/pts/£ you would be rather foolish not to use the service as you would effectively be buying Avios for less than 0.5p per Avios.
At this offer it is still worth it if you have your plans firmly set far enough in advance. Advance tickets can be as low as £11, which is lower than the cost of the Elizabeth line. Booking that far ahead would mean you save £1.50 and get 275 Avios comparatively free.

      • John says:

What would be foolish is dragging my luggage from Hammersmith all the way to Paddington to get another train when I can go directly to Heathrow.

    • The Original David says:

Think you need to check your points strategy – 100 Heathrow Rewards pts/£ would be compelling for me, even if I had no HEX journeys planned!

More seriously, HEX still offers good value on Advance tickets, cheaper than the Lizzie line. Sadly they’ve realised that and blocked the promo for Advance tickets.

      • Rhys says:

        100 Heathrow Rewards per £ would be a 100% rebate….

        • The Savage Squirrel says:

200% on car parking – so pay for your airport parking in HEX tickets you don’t need 😀

    • Phil says:

If anyone in this world was giving 100 pts/£, their portal would crash due to demand. HExpress seems to have its audience sorted, there are people who will always want choice, same way people pay for Premium Economy vs Economy even though they are going to the same destination in the same plane!

  • Ron says:

so do you get the extra Heathrow rewards points for Early Bird Discounted Single?

  • Jeremy I says:

15% off heathrow express with the code pride 23 too

    • Preet says:

We just got back from SFO and one of my sons went free as under 15 and the other now 16 used his rail card. It only cost about £15 or all four of us. Agree with the above about booking early.

  • richardderby says:

the Lizzie line now takes only 8 minutes more than the express to T5, (21 V 29 min) since the new timetable speeded up the service, and skips places like Southall.
the fare is less than half (£12 V 25), and it takes you directly to the heart of town…

  • MD says:

Not very clear from their T&Cs, but I’m guessing this won’t work with the DUOSAVER code that I use quite a lot? I’m usually not organised enough to book 3 months in advance.

  • Tim says:

I have found £5.50 fares and others much less than the Lizzy Line online even 2 weeks before travel dates. Think you just need to book at the time of flight bookings for bargains.

    • Andrew says:

Exactly this. Plus, with children, don’t forget children travel free.

We’ve managed to book one adult and one child for a total of £3.65 each way (with a railcard discount).

Given one child is now 11 and so doesn’t travel free on TfL services, this makes it much, much cheaper than the Elizabeth or Piccadilly Lines.

Obviously this doesn’t qualify for the 25x points offer but it’s already cheap enough!

  • Lewis says:

We usually take advantage of the BA baggage allowance in Club so the Elizabeth Line would be painful at peak times

    • apbj says:

I commute on the Elizabeth line and the amount of luggage in the morning has to be seen to be believed. LHR passengers board first and have the pick of the seats so the only pain is felt by the rest of us trying to squeeze into standing space further down the line. You might as well take advantage! (LHR passengers pay more, so I don’t begrudge it, just saying it’s entirely doable with big bags…)

  • Phil says:

So you can get 25 Avios for £1? That to me seems like a bargain. I’ll be buying a couple of their first class tickets just for the point. Seems like an easy way to top up a few thousand Avios to me!

    • Rahul says:

Interesting offer this, tempted to buy tickets to increase my flying club balance

    • Chrisasaurus says:

Erm. 25 Avios for £1 is 4p per Avios I wouldn’t be buying tickets just for the Avios…
