In what may turn out to be a shrewd piece of sponsorship, United Airlines has become the main shirt sponsor of Wrexham AFC.
From next season Wrexham AFC will be toiling away in Division 2 of the English Football League, having been promoted from non-league status.
Whilst Division 2 clubs would not normally attract a major global airline as a sponsor, Wrexham is different. If the story has passed you by, it is now owned by Hollywood royalty Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds who turned their story into a successful TV series, ‘Welcome to Wrexham’.
Wrexham is even having a US pre-season tour this summer – flying on United, of course – which is something not exactly common for Division 2 clubs.
I look forward to a VIP hospitality invite from United to Wrexham (ground capacity 10,000) next season!
