Lots of Singapore and Sydney Club World Avios availability for four people for July 2024

Links on Head for Points may support the site by paying a commission.  See here for all partner links.

Given that Avios seats in premium cabins to Singapore and Sydney usually disappear instantly when booking opens, the fact that July 2024 and bits of June 2024 are currently wide open is a bit of a surprise.

I had seen reports that there had been some issues over the automatic release of Singapore availability in recent days so this could be just catching up. It could also be linked to the move of an A380 onto the route next year.

Whatever the reason, it’s worth jumping in if interested.

Avios availability to Singapore

This is a screenshot taken from SeatSpy, our preferred reward seat search service, at 10.15am.

It shows days with TWO Club World seats available. In reality, most days seem to have four seats.

I really would not sit around if you are interested in these. Remember that there is a 24 hour cooling off period where you can cancel for free without even paying the £35 per person fee.

Remember that the A380 services will have the old Club World seat and not the new ‘closing door’ Club Suite.

Let’s talk about Sydney

There also appear to be a lot of Sydney seats available although SeatSpy has not yet caught up.

This screenshot is for Singapore to Sydney for two in Club World. It is NOT for London to Sydney so you need to match it up to the dates above.

Avios availability Sydney

Despite what the screenshot show, seats ARE available in both directions.

This HfP article shows the Avios needed for flights from London in all cabins on all routes.

Happy booking!

Interesting. I’ve been looking the last week or so, just getting the lay of the land, and there have only every been economy seats available for those periods. A problem with releasing the seats would make sense.

Hoping to make a booking for next September when they’re released.

  • immi says:

I’d like to go first class to Singapore and back but I don’t see seat availability for this ever. Can you book first class with points? Is it even possible?

    • Rob says:

If seats open up and the aircraft has it, you can obviously do it.

    • James C says:

IME on routes like SIN, SYD, MLE and HND a Gold Upgrade Voucher is your friend for F Avios seats. You can get lucky but with the reduction in the size of F cabins I see fewer and fewer Avios F seats across the board and particularly on those routes. Other routes in F like BAH and EWR are easier to find F space.

    • SamG says:

the A380 being back with 14F may help but it’s a route BA seems to have no problem shifting cash seats on in F – I’ve always set alerts to upgrade when I’ve been on a cash J ticket and have never seen availability over quite a few flights in the last 8 years!

  • Hak says:

How does this work wth a BA 241 if you want to book one ways?

    • Rob says:

Book one way now and, if a return opens up later, amend your original booking to include the return.

This is not really relevant here though, because I doubt you’re going to see more seats opening up UNLESS you want to return on a date not yet bookable.

  • immi says:

Could you buy two tickets and then exchange them for a Companion Voucher when you become eligible? And get refund on avios?

    • Rob says:

      No.

All you can do is cancel your existing booking (£35 per person fee), cross your fingers that BA decides to put the seats back into Avios availability and then rebook 2 minutes later.

  • Jonathan says:

Great article and advice Rob, although you could’ve noted the amount of Avios needed for booking one of these redemptions

    • letBAgonesbe says:

I agree, for future reference this could be handy.
I know we can just look it up, but you would save us some time. 😉

    • Gordon says:

Did a dummy booking last week! Off peak, On a 2-4-1 Voucher 220,000 Avois, £1,200 each in J.

  • immi says:

What a completely extraordinary heads by Rob and team! Very grateful indeed.

As Rob says, don’t think about it too long. Thanks for your excellent advice. Two tickets booked! I have a plan + worst case scenario, it’ll only cost me £70. Also, I get my Companion Voucher that much sooner as I’ve just spent £2,580 in cash for two tickets.

Here are points scales for two tickets to Singapore:

    406000 Avios + £ 1,410.00. 5470
    385000 Avios + £ 1,600.00 5440
    302000 Avios + £ 2,580.00 5600
    238000 Avios + £ 3,180.00 5560
    171500 Avios + £ 4,160.00 5875

Happy Weekend everyone! *Very happy. 🙂

  • SteveW says:

    Thank you Rob and others.

Have been trying to work out a strategy for returning from Oz next July after a wedding in Darwin. The heads up prompted me to dive in and grab SYD- LHR Club on the BA16 on 9 July. I used 135000 avios and £691 using a 241.Didn’t even have enough avios for the round trip but since we are stopping over in SIN before DRW, we can be creative on how we get there.

  • louie says:

Hope you lot realise how cold Sydney is in July!

Sadly too late for me – I need a flight back from Sydney in May or early June so this release doesn’t work for me and Qatar have pulled all the availability they had a little while ago. I snoozed, I losed(!).

    • SteveW says:

Yes, we did consider the weather. Darwin is lovely in June (the “dry”) and you can’t go all the way to Oz without seeing Sydney or elsewhere. Having said all that, I noticed the forecast temp for SYD the other day was 22 degrees.

    • HB13 says:

Sydney in July is actually not very cold, it’s probably warmer than London now lol!

      • Danny says:

Yes, just back from Sydney. It is lovely during the day, just a bit cold at night.

    • fikachu says:

I was in Sydney on Sunday and it was 25 degrees. Down to around 22 on Monday and Tuesday. Naturally, as Brits, we were at the beach with hats and sunscreen. To be fair the locals said that was unusual, but it was very pleasant indeed.
