Lots of Singapore and Sydney Club World Avios availability for four people for July 2024

Links on Head for Points may support the site by paying a commission.  See here for all partner links.

Given that Avios seats in premium cabins to Singapore and Sydney usually disappear instantly when booking opens, the fact that July 2024 and bits of June 2024 are currently wide open is a bit of a surprise.

I had seen reports that there had been some issues over the automatic release of Singapore availability in recent days so this could be just catching up. It could also be linked to the move of an A380 onto the route next year.

Whatever the reason, it’s worth jumping in if interested.

Avios availability to Singapore

This is a screenshot taken from SeatSpy, our preferred reward seat search service, at 10.15am.

It shows days with TWO Club World seats available. In reality, most days seem to have four seats.

I really would not sit around if you are interested in these. Remember that there is a 24 hour cooling off period where you can cancel for free without even paying the £35 per person fee.

Remember that the A380 services will have the old Club World seat and not the new ‘closing door’ Club Suite.

Avios availability to Sydney

Let’s talk about Sydney

There also appear to be a lot of Sydney seats available although SeatSpy has not yet caught up.

This screenshot is for Singapore to Sydney for two in Club World. It is NOT for London to Sydney so you need to match it up to the dates above.

Avios availability Sydney

Despite what the screenshot show, seats ARE available in both directions.

This HfP article shows the Avios needed for flights from London in all cabins on all routes.

Happy booking!

  • Peter says:

So…. How many Avios + tax would it cost for 2 adults and 2 kids return to Sydney in Business with 2 X 241 vouchers?

  • Super Secret Stuff says:

Does my outbound travel date on a BAPP 2 for 1 have to be before expiry?

  • EvilGazebo says:

God bless Seatspy & HfP, you just cost me half a million Avios 🙂

Very happy – 4 of us on the exact dates I wanted, on the 787 so maybe a shot at Club Suite (?), a 241 and 2 Barclaycard upgrade vouchers burnt and only £140 to cancel when one of the kids suddenly announces they *must* be at some festival right in the middle of it …..

Now just need to figure out where else to actually go. Koh Samui should be OK weather wise in July right?

    • SteveW says:

@EvilGazebo I wouldn’t be too sure. Just did my seat selection for next July on the 789 and it was Club World☹️

      • EvilGazebo says:

Oh sure I know that’s what it says now. I just mean in terms of refit the chances of the 787-9 getting done by then are still slim but not as slim as the A380 if I understand correctly.

Assuming it doesn’t get refitted, do we prefer old CW in 787-9 or the A380?

        • Qrfan says:

Depends if you have free seat selection. Top deck Vs 789 is similar layout but a380 bottom deck is a flying dormitory. I would avoid the a380 completely until refurbished though. It’s falling apart.

        • SteveW says:

Didn’t have much time to research this morning after the availability was highlighted but took a punt on the 789 being a better option. I’ll be trying them both out and back to SA in November.

          • EvilGazebo says:

Same here, I wasn’t hanging around so the 787 was a coin toss.

        • Nick says:

A380 without question, the most comfortable aircraft in BA’s fleet. Little chance the 789s will be complete by then, marginally possible that a handful will be.

          • Qrfan says:

What?? Most comfortable? vs the a350 or a 787-10, both with club suite? Absolute nonsense. The a380 is one of the worst in the BA Heathrow fleet.

      • Andrew J says:

        Club Suite is Club World.

        • James C says:

It is the same soft product (meal, bedding and service) but the Club Suite is a totally different seat to the old Club World seat.

          • Nick says:

YMMV of course, but I prefer the quiet gracefulness of the A380 over anything else, and I’ve done a fair few 781s now. The A350 is a beautiful aircraft on other airlines but I don’t like CS – it’s really not the panacea some say it is, it’s a claustrophobic pen with a lumpy bed and totally pointless door. Give me a rear-facing CW bed any time, but particularly on A380, and I’ll sleep much better.

  • Londonsteve says:

But for using a 241, is there any rationale on redeeming to Oz with this BA service? Without it wouldn’t one automatically gravitate to Qatar or a combination of OW carriers via the multi carrier redemption chart?

    • Rob says:

None at all without a 241, assuming Qatar has availability at 180k.

      • Londonsteve says:

What does a multi carrier redemption in J typically work out at LHR-SYD? Is that potentially better value than Qatar/offers more availability/is a more interesting option/you see more by stopping over in places like HK, KL, etc?

        • BJ says:

No, generally multicarrier awards are more expensive. Whether they are worth it depends on how you value your exploration. There are HfP articles on multicarrier awards you can google for which I recommend as there are nuances where you can make them work for you. One of the cheapest way to get down under using money and miles in absence of vouchers or QR availability is BA to HKG booked as singles plus CX to/from Oz/NZ via Alaska MP which can be bought in 60% sale or (amex-)Bonvoy-Alaska.

          • Londonsteve says:

From what I’ve read multi-carrier redemptions are better where there are a greater number of flights, e.g. the same distance as UK to Oz and back again, but stopping off in a variety of locations akin to a ’round the world’ ticket. I thought they might however even represent value to Oz and back because the multiplier for J is 2 and not 3.

        • K says:

For 2 people, I’ve booked Brisbane – London in J on Qatar for 180k Avios and £400. London to Sydney J on BA was 160k and £750 using Barclays upgrade voucher.

Qatar definitely the better deal but didn’t have the availability.

  • BJ says:

Just a thought – if this were to be switched back from an a380 to the next biggest bird (77W) there could be up to 8 very disappointed First and up to 30+ even more disappointed Business Class passengers on every flight 😉 Presumably the potential compensation bill will provide insurance.

  • BJ says:

Typically Samui would be a little better than Phuket in July if that’s what your asking. Vietnam would be a bit better still.

  • chelseafifi says:

Slightly o/t but with all this talk about aircraft type, we have Club world for next Feb Cape Town, 2 travellers, no status so will select seats (or take what’s given) 24 hours at check in, just checked BA and we are departing on a 351 and returning on a 77W are any of these club suites and most seats as good as each other? I do get confused with all the different aircraft’s, not sure if I should select one over the other if available in future. Thanks

    • BJ says:

Both are suites so no bad seats. All are essentially the same, rows 9 & 10 A & K slightly better than others on the a350 as they have 2x full windows. Rhys has some good articles on which seats to pick on each BA plane type so you might want to google those.

  • Michael says:

Got a nice 10 day SIN with our 2-4-1! Read H4P this morning and set Seatspy alert and within 3 hours …!!! Boom .. Thank you Rob and Team
