Lots of Singapore and Sydney Club World Avios availability for four people for July 2024

Links on Head for Points may support the site by paying a commission.  See here for all partner links.

Given that Avios seats in premium cabins to Singapore and Sydney usually disappear instantly when booking opens, the fact that July 2024 and bits of June 2024 are currently wide open is a bit of a surprise.

I had seen reports that there had been some issues over the automatic release of Singapore availability in recent days so this could be just catching up. It could also be linked to the move of an A380 onto the route next year.

Whatever the reason, it’s worth jumping in if interested.

Avios availability to Singapore

This is a screenshot taken from SeatSpy, our preferred reward seat search service, at 10.15am.

It shows days with TWO Club World seats available. In reality, most days seem to have four seats.

I really would not sit around if you are interested in these. Remember that there is a 24 hour cooling off period where you can cancel for free without even paying the £35 per person fee.

Remember that the A380 services will have the old Club World seat and not the new ‘closing door’ Club Suite.

Avios availability to Sydney

Let’s talk about Sydney

There also appear to be a lot of Sydney seats available although SeatSpy has not yet caught up.

This screenshot is for Singapore to Sydney for two in Club World. It is NOT for London to Sydney so you need to match it up to the dates above.

Avios availability Sydney

Despite what the screenshot show, seats ARE available in both directions.

This HfP article shows the Avios needed for flights from London in all cabins on all routes.

Happy booking!

  • Steve says:

Regarding Qatar – when are seats being released? Is it on midnight at T-355 days and also, do they release at least 4 business seats?

And do I read it right that only 200k avios are needed for a one way LHR-SIN with Qatar where BA requires at least 220k off peak/320k peak for a family of 4 and 2 BC upgrade vouchers?

    • Marcw says:

It’s not as easy and straightforward as with BA. Remember QR has a married segment policy, so the guaranteed 2 seats in C is very diffuse.

  • melikepoints says:

My first comment in the main forum, but long time lurker – can I check if I have been charged correctly:
Grabbed LHR-SYD earlier today for the last week Jun24, which includes a week stopover in SIN. Both legs in BC and off-peak dates.

The return leg is mid Jul24, also with a 3 day stopover in SIN, but the 1st leg in PE, while the SIN-LHR will be in BC, peak dates.

I paid 370k avios + £1,830 on a new 241 – does this sound right? I did a dummy booking for a non-stopover, albeit with both legs in BC and off peak, and the cost was 335k avios + £1,700 using the same voucher.

Should I have gone for the straight run? Have never been to either places/countries.

    • babyg says:

you’ve overpaid compared flying the LHR-SIN-SYD “direct”, personally i dont really think what youve paid represents good value. I would see if there are QATAR flights and explore that option.. it will be similar avios, but much less tax and much better seats/food/drinks..

  • Harry T says:

For anyone heading to Sydney next July, remember you can use Avios on Qantas to fly to Darwin when you realise how rubbish the East Coast weather will be 🙂

    • Andrew J says:

Yeah I did think that it’s hardly the time of year to be going to Sydney.

      • JDB says:

July or August is great in Sydney unless you want to lie on the beach all day. It’s very cold at night but the days tend to have glorious blue skies, so great for most activities, particularly hiking. I did encounter snow in the Southern Highlands – between Sydney and Canberra but it didn’t last long and was very beautiful. I was there in April this year and the weather was absolutely dire in Sydney and Canberra for three days. My wife has been to Sydney for Christmas and had pouring rain. It’s like England – very unreliable.

        • Harry T says:

Whereas you would have very reliable Sun and blue skies in the NT in July 🙂

    • Mikeact says:

I guess most will go for family reasons…not exactly an Aussie Summer holiday. As you say, Darwin is not a bad area at all…we went again last year, to pay our respects to a family member sadly killed in the Darwin tornado in ’74.

      • Harry T says:

Cyclone Tracy? My condolences. The museum in Darwin has a sound recording of the Cyclone that is truly terrifying.

  • BJ says:

Yup, weather’s pretty awful in Newcastle in July 😀

  • Lee says:

Thanks Rob. Saved me 290K avios with my Amex voucher. Even if its 789 which isnt the most ideal, its better than slumming it out in Econ/PE in any other airline. Given its so difficult to redeem biz class in Star alliance carriers (esp SQ) even with my huge trove of Star Alliance miles its great to dispose of my Avios usefully for a LHR – SYD biz seats on BA. Try finding 2 biz class seats LHR – SYD for 2 now on any star carrier😆.

  • Chard Onnay says:

Tbh, this is still a poor deal – you would have to be pretty stupid not to use the miles on Qatar. But do enjoy old Club, terrible service, a flight that’s very delayed, and giving BA a good backhander with the made up taxes. Nothing more cheers me up than people who (generally hold super paying jobs) who are completely stupid in the real world when it comes to the value of money. You’ve given HfP a great backhander though…

    • Harry T says:

It’s fairly solid value if you’re using a 241. Qatar are also quite stingy on luggage allowance, so that can be a factor in some situations. Agree QR are vastly superior though. And I wouldn’t want to fly this in old club world. Can just about tolerate BA’s lack of punctuality or service if I can get some sleep in Club Suite.

    • EvilGazebo says:

You are so right, what an idiot I am. I should have booked the indirect flights with zero availability for 4 people ever, let alone for a year in advance on the exact dates I want in both directions during the school holidays. And that would cost me 100k more Avios if they did exist which, just to reiterate, they don’t. Invaluable advice, lucky for us you haven’t got anything better to do than pointlessly troll here.

    • immi says:

I think your comment may be misleading. I found that for late June to Mid-July (*selecting cheapest cash flight option in both cases), the cash costs were as follows:

      BA £3,990
      Qatar £4,200
      Quantas £3,538

*But BA offer much better luggage allowance than Qatar. Also, I couldn’t be bothered to note down the difference cancellation policies per airline ticket at that cost. But Avios bookings are great in that regard.

    • Andy says:

Nothing more annoys me more than an entitled tw@t posting obnoxious nonsense to just put people down. Guess that says something’s missing in your life, hope you find it soon.

    • Chard Onnay says:

OK, not entirely sure who is talking to who and who is slagging who off. Anyway, we are entitled to opinions, I’m pretty certain none of us are ‘trolls’, and wherever you are going, and however you choose to spend your Avios, just chill, and enjoy.

  • Zoe says:

Thanks everyone, got 3 weeks booked to SIN in July. Can decide where to head from there later at leisure.

  • Andy Ling says:

Just bagged LHR to SING return for 22000 Avios & £1,200 in CW next July. Thanks for the heads up Rob

    • immi says:

That’s odd. I got LHR-SIN Return, in CW Late June to Mid-July (17 days) for one at 151,000 £1,290. Why does your cost more, Maybe Peak vs Off-peak?

LHR -SIN Avios Cash Cash Saving Avios Value (p)
      Cash Fair 0 £7,980
      Offer 302,000 £2,580 £5400 1.79p
      Offer (pp) 151,000 £1,290

    • Andy Ling says:

Should have mentioned it was a 241 oops
