Black Friday 2023 – your best hotel and other offers (Part 2)

Links on Head for Points may support the site by paying a commission.  See here for all partner links.

Black Friday is back again although, as you have probably noticed, it has morphed into a week-long run of deals, some better than others.

I’ve split our coverage into two parts. This article looks at hotel offers and some other bits and pieces, whilst Part 1 looks at flight and package holiday deals (click here).

This is not, in any way, meant to be a comprehensive listing. The main criteria for being listed is that the company involved sent us details of their offer.

Accor – get a 20% bonus buying gift cards

We have run a separate article on this offer (click here) but it was not emailed to subscribers. If you are reading this via email, click here to read our article on the Accor deal.

Accor – triple Accor Live Limitless points

We have run a separate article on this offer (cick here) but it was not emailed to subscribers. If you are reading this via email, click here to read our article on the Accor deal.

Booking.com

Booking.com is offering ‘up to 30%’ off selected hotels. You need to book by 29th November for stays until the end of 2024. Click here to learn more.

Graduate Hotels

You may remember that we reviewed the Graduate Hotels property in Oxford earlier this year.

From 27th November to 1st December (so NOT bookable today) you can get 50% off stays. The booking period is to 31st March 2024.

All 33 worldwide properties take part – in the UK they are also in Cambridge. Some hotels may have a minimum stay requirement or blackout dates.

Holiday Extras – airport hotels, airports hotels with parking

Holiday Extras is offering 14% off selected airport hotels and ‘airport hotels + parking’ packages.

You need to book by 30th November. This is an exclusive partner offer so you need to use this HfP partner link. Discounts will be automatically applied.

Hotels.com

Hotels.com is offering 30% off many hotels on its site (and on sister site Expedia). You need to book by 29th November for stays at any time until the end of 2024.

You can find out more here.

IHG – Iberostar

IHG is pushing its biggest discounts on the Iberostar Beachfront Resorts chain which it recently integrated. (You can’t redeem IHG One Rewards points on Iberostar although you can earn points.)

You can save ‘up to’ 40% on bookings until 20th December 2024 in Europe, the Med and Africa and until 31st October 2024 in the Americas.

You can check pricing and find out more on the IHG website here.

IHG – 500 free points for everyone?

IHG is offering 500 free IHG One Rewards points for everyone who registers via the link here and then downloads and logs in to the IHG app.

The T&C do not say that you need to be a first-time user of the app. However, as the points don’t post immediately this is one of those things that you may want to do, forget about it and then be happy if they do arrive in a few months.

You MUST register via the link on this page before downloading the app and logging in. Feel free to delete it immediately afterwards.

IHG – 15% off cash and points redemptions

IHG is offering a discount on ‘cash and points’ redemptions. If you choose to mix and match cash with IHG One Rewards points, instead of using 100% points, you will get a 15% discount on the cash element.

You must stay in January or February 2024.

Remember that if you cancel a ‘cash and points’ booking you do not get the cash back. Instead, you get the full original points value back. For example, if a room is 100,000 points or 90,000 points + $50, a cancellation would see 100,000 points returned to you and no cash. You can read more here.

Marriott Bonvoy

Marriott is offering a 20% discount at participating hotels. You need to book by Tuesday and stay by 15th January 2024. Details are on the home page here.

You can also save 20% on various items at Marriott Bonvoy Boutiques, including mattresses.

Melia Hotels

Melia is offering ‘up to’ 50% off its hotels, although it guarantees a minimum saving of 25% for logged-in Melia Rewards members. The offer is valid on flexible rates and will stack with the 20% discount vouchers given to Melia Reward Gold members, which is an Amex Platinum hotel status benefit.

You need to book by 26th November for stays at any point in 2024. There is a list of participating hotels on the website but it’s a very long list – the bulk appear to be included.

Millennium Hotels, including Copthorne

Millennium Hotels is offering up to 25% off stays and QUADRUPLE My Millennium points for bookings made by 30th November.

minicabit

Get 20% off any cab ride booked on 24th November, to be taken at any point up to 24th December. There is a minimum booking of £30 with the discount capped at £7. You must use code BLKFRIDAY.

Register and book here.

No1 Lounges

You can save 25% on all No1, Clubrooms, Club Aspire and MyLounge bookings made by 27th November. You can book for any future date.

You must use code N1BF23 on the website here.

NH Hotels

NH Hotels is offering up to 40% off bookings made by 28th November. You can stay until 1st April 2024.

NH Hotels is a little-known Avios partner via Iberia Plus as we covered here.

You can find out more about the deal here.

Park Plaza

Park Plaza hotels, part of Radisson Rewards and a chain with a decent upmarket London presence, has a deal on.

You can save up to 35% on Best Flexible Rate. You need to book by 29th November for stays until the end of 2024. You will also receive 2,500 bonus Radisson Rewards points per stay, although they are only worth around £5 since the massive 2021 devaluation.

Full details of the offer are here.

Priority Pass

Priority Pass is offering special discounts on its airport lounge access cards until 3rd December.

A Standard card (pay as you go) is reduced from £69 to £41 and a Standard Plus card (10 visits) is reduced from £229 to £171. The Prestige card is not reduced.

You must use this special page to buy and not the standard home page.

Sea Containers London

The Sea Containers London hotel is offering 30% off and free breakfast.

I only mention this because we recently reviewed Sea Containers and because it is one of the 10 hotels on the ‘Amex Stays’ cashback offer which you may have on one of your cards, giving back £100 if you spend £400.

Virgin Red – wine offer

Virgin Red is offering a special deal from Virgin Wines.

12-bottle cases of white, red or mixed wines are available for just 13,000 Virgin Points. This includes delivery. You need to order by 1st December.

To order, download the Virgin Red app and link it to your Virgin Flying Club account. This will allow you to spend your existing Virgin Flying Club points balance in the app.

YOTEL

YOTEL is offering a fixed 40% discount off Best Flexible Rate on all stays book for travel by 30th September 2024.

Even better, all bookings can be cancelled later. You can book on the website here. You need to book by 3rd December.

The following hotels are excluded: YOTEL San Francisco, YOTELAIR London Gatwick, YOTELAIR Istanbul Airport (Airside), YOTELAIR Paris Charles de Gaulle and YOTELAIR Amsterdam Schiphol.

  • The real Swiss Tony says:

That Millennium offer seems to be useless. Looked at Glasgow a couple of weeks back and it’s exactly the same price now.

Apex hotels – use code BF40 – have some good offers at up to 40% off but availability is patchy and the site is bad to search on.

  • Andrew says:

The Ts&Cs for the IGH app offer specifically state:

“The Promotion is valid for first time app downloads only”

I take that to mean that if you’ve ever used the app in the past you’re not eligible

    • PM says:

Sometimes a new version of the app is considered as a first time app download, worth trying, takes 20 sec and there is nothing to lose.

      • Andrew says:

I don’t disagree that you’ve got nothing to lose especially given the reliability of IHG’s IT. I really just wanted to point out the bizarreness of the article saying “The T&C do not say that you need to be a first-time user of the app” when they quite literally do say exactly that.

        • Rob says:

Those T&C seem to have been changed. The offer has been up for 3-4 days now and when I looked at it I don’t think that line was in.

  • Alex says:

A bit underwhelming. The Marriott one in particular. Nothing from Hilton?

    • Aston100 says:

Agree, I’m not seeing anything particularly exciting.
The Melia one would be really good if it applied to all dates (as stated in their terms and conditions), but as detailed elsewhere on the forums they aren’t honouring city hotel black friday rates after April 2024 (resort properties are fine though).

  • Manya says:

The Moon Palace all inclusive resorts in Cancun and Jamaica are doing a decent looking BF promo of up to 50% off.

Further discounts and benefits can be had if booking via a ‘member’ (members can be found on the FaceBook group).

  • Dan says:

Sainsburys (instore & onl;in) seem to be offering 5x bonus points if you spend over £120 on my own nectar account.

That may make buying things via sainsburys this weekend a better deal than otherwise

  • Lonli-Lokli says:

I was monitoring (and actually booked) hotels and flights two weeks ago for a lower price than they are now (Booking.com, Accor hotels). It really looks like a scam

  • Allan says:

I’m no expert but I ordered both the Virgin Wines reds & mixed case. Can’t vouch for the whites yet, but the reds are decent for the price (I’m saying 0.8p mile, so £8.67 bottle) delivered. Obviously there’s probably better value per mile on flights but I’m in EDI and have no wish to visit Orlando, nor faff about at Heathrow or Manchester with seperate tickets and rechecking luggage

    • davefl says:

I’ve been really surprised at the red advent calendar. Not had a bad bottle yet and I’m halfway through it (yeah I know it’s for Dec but I’ll be out of the country for most of it)
