Good Aer Lingus business class flight deal to New York from Paris

Yesterday we covered the new Aer Lingus sale from Manchester.

Whilst primarily aimed at economy deals on the direct routes to New York, Orlando and Barbados, it did feature direct flights to New York JFK in business class for £1,500 return. It’s not a bad price in the current market and the fare is widely available.

Luxury Flight Club flagged up an exceptional deal from Paris, however.

Aer Lingus business class deals

For €1,155 (£990) you can fly Aer Lingus in business class from Paris to New York. This fare is available for much of the next year and, even better the fare is refundable for a 15% fee and an administration fee.

Here’s an example via aerlingus.com:

These flights change aircraft in Dublin and so you will clear US immigration there. You land in New York as a domestic passenger and walk straight out of the airport.

Unfortunately, because Aer Lingus flights still do not earn British Airways Executive Club tier points, there is no ‘status’ reason to book this deal. You also won’t earn a huge number of Avios, because the Aer Lingus scheme now rewards you on what you spend – which isn’t much.

The only reason to book would be a) to save a lot of money on a business class flight (in return for a diversion to Paris and back to Dublin) or b) to try out Aer Lingus business class. That said, if you are time rich, (relatively) cash poor and an aviation enthusiast it could work.

Happened to a guy sitting in the same row as me around 2012. We waited and waited. Flight deck announced we were waiting for him to clear immigration. Waited for over an hour after everyone else had boarded. Flight deck then announced that he hadn’t made it and we’d be on our way.

Not sure what happened to him. We never made up the delay, which was significant – from memory – when we arrived.

  • RadissonSuck says:

    Screw Radisson.
I had over a week’s worth of points for a stay in Marsa Alam and then the sudden devaluation came and left me with about enough for a Radisson branded cardboard box under a bridge in Cairo for a few hours one night.
    Not redeemed them yet.

    • tw33ty says:

I do all I can to avoid anyone, not only in my team, but my whole company, booking with Radisson where possible.

If there’s any other option at all, it gets taken before Radisson.

“a Radisson branded cardboard box under a bridge in Cairo for a few hours one night”

That made me lol! Totally agree though – I cashed out to Radisson US then to Choice for some stays in Norway and Sweden

  • Nick says:

The twickenham announcement will annoy BA/IAG. They get a very decent corporate Marriott rate next to their sponsored stadium!
