Maximise your Avios, air miles and hotel points

Avios has a new logo – what do you think?

Links on Head for Points may support the site by paying a commission.  See here for all partner links.

The avios.com website has been relaunched as a general information site about Avios.

This used to be the place that members of Aer Lingus AerClub and Vueling Club would go to book flight redemptions.

AerClub will soon have its own flight redemption platform on the Aer Lingus site. During the transition period, the only thing that is currently possible from the Aer Lingus and Vueling websites is to use Avios for a discount on cash flights.

The most interesting thing on the new avios.com site is a new Avios logo. See:

New Avios logo

It’s not necessarily better than the previous one, see below, but it is more suitable to online use because of the single colour, lack of depth and the ‘straighter’ lettering. Here’s another version:

The Bristol lounges are not opposite each other but it’s not exactly a huge terminal. I’m disappointed to hear that because there certainly is plenty lounge demand at Bristol and have frequently been unable to access the lounge on either my PP or Dragon but suspect that the pricing and product aren’t quite right. Imo they should repurpose the 1903 for the TUI lot.

  • Sue says:

I have a booking for the 1903 lounge Bristol for early May – haven’t heard from them re refund!

  • TimM says:

MAG brings decline wherever it operates.

    • Jeff says:

As someone who has had MAG as a client for a number of years, they are a shambles of an organisation.

  • Philondon says:

I just opened the BA Executive Club Rewards app and at the bottom it says “this app will soon be known as the Avios app. Learn more”

    • Erico1875 says:

Yes. Same for me. Would be nice to access all the partners from the one place

    • David says:

Oh boy. The app actually works now with some tinkering it probably won’t work at all.

  • Kieran says:

Escape and 1903 lounges are at opposite ends of the terminal at BRS. There is planning permission for a third lounge to be built using the space currently occupied by the Cabin Bar and roof terrace opposite which is probably the reason for the closure of 1903. I’ve never seen either lounge quiet, given that 1903 is also accessible with Priority Pass for a small fee.

  • Ben says:

Strange that M&S gets a higher billing on avios.com than Sainsbury’s. It’s there in partners above any mention of Nectar.

  • Lady London says:

    Not really.
Right now part of our hobby is made useful, shall we say, by the gaps and inconsistencies between programs.

The downgrade in the avios logo quality is a helpful hint.

Be careful what you wish for.

  • SharonC says:

Bristol needs lounges desperately. There is not enough space for anyone to sit in the actual terminal. Although I am local to Bristol I would sooner travel to BHX because Bristol is damn awful.

    • paul says:

Bristol is great IF you book the onsite hotel and silver parking.

Arrive before 9pm, park in Silver Zone, check bags in and walk 2 minutes to the hotel.

Next morning, enjoy free breakfast and stroll across to the security gates, having checked in the previous night.

      Perfect.

We’ve managed to get 14 day parking and the hotel for £130 which takes so much stress away when flying.

      • PGR says:

Is the hotel (Hampton?) accessible from the silver car park on foot? I thought the silver car park was on the other side of the airport, requiring a shuttle bus.
